Yep. It was released yesterday. If you haven't seen this, it would be a great blind purchase. It has the ASOP (AKA Stamp Of Approval).

If you have no idea what this is, here's the synopsis from the back cover:

Jerry Seinfeld is a working stand-up comic again. COMEDIAN is a candidly revealing, intimately observed, and often very funny look at what it takes to be a comedian. On-stage, Jerry delivers his hilarious brand of observational humor. Off-stage, he struggles with difficult material, confronts self-doubt, revels in small successes and accepts help and support from friends and colleagues, including Colin Quinn, Ray Romano, Chris Rock, Garry Shandling, Jay Leno and Bill Cosby. COMEDIAN also discovers the sharp wit of rising young comic Orny Adams -- outspoken, insecure, and fanatical about becoming the "next big thing." What emerges are two fascinating journeys by two contrasting personalities who have some surprising parallels.

SPECIAL FEATURES
-2 feature-length commentaries with director, producer, Jerry Seinfeld and Colin Quinn.
-Jerry Seinfeld's and Orny Adams' complete "Late Show With David Letterman" performances from the film.
-Deleted scenes with commentary from the director and producer.
-Jiminy Glick's interviews with Jerry Seinfeld and Orny Adams about "Comedian" made exclusively for the DVD.
-"Where Is Orny Now?" -- A short film made exclusively for the DVD.

-Actual notes from Jerry Seinfeld, Colin Quinn and Orny Adams about developing material.
-Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound.

Thanks AKA. I've been waiting for this. I tried to see this at the theater, but it had such a limited release. I'm a huge Seinfeld fan, having seen every Seinfeld episode more times than I can count.
Jerry will be on Jay Leno tonight doing standup.

On a sidenote. A good website to find out when a movie is going to video is:

Janice,

It didn't play here in Spokane, so it was a blind purchase for me. I hadn't seen it until last night. Needless to say, I didn't live to regret the purchase.

I saw Jerry on his tour last year. He came to Spokane on April 6, 2002. The seats were expensive, but it was well-worth it. Seeing the movie last night added a lot of poignancy to the new set.

Here's some more great Seinfeld DVD news (this is better-suited for the Seinfeld board, but it fits in this thread, so why the hell not?):

From DVDFile.com (http://www.dvdfile.com):

Rounding out today's news, attention Seinfeld fans. One of the most successful comedy series of all time is finally on its way to DVD. According to the latest issue of Daily Variety's "DVD Exclusive" magazine, series co-creator Jerry Seinfeld himself reveals that he is currently in the process of digging up archival materials and creating supplements for upcoming Seinfeld releases. No word on whether these will be season-by-season sets, greatest hits packages or both, nor has Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment commented on any possible release dates. But, as always, watch this space...

Jerry is one the best observational comedians around.I'm telling you for the very last time was great. His slow deliberate delivery is very jack benny and Bob Newhart. He doesn't have to swear like alot of the Comedians outthere.he is very much in line with cosby he can take moments in a human life and analyze it and squeeze all the scarcasm and the elements to human behavior and make it funny and insightful.I miss seinfeld and I miss The It's the Garry Shandling show.he was so smart for breaking down the fourth wall.his self deprecating humor is great.Rita Rudner is a superb observationalist.Diane Ford is tops.I miss Kevin Pollak alot of people don't know he is a skilled impressionist with the likes of Shatner and C.Lloyds character on taxi.where is Bobby Collins these days he was funny.Leno is funny but he doesn't have seinfelds skill at using the concept of standup in the way he can use a joke to tell a story using the punchline as the payoff.I miss Dean Martin and his kind of layed back humor and this is so biased but I do miss the Carol Burnett Show because I miss seeing my dad on tv plus I can tape them for his grandson. That's all.

I finally saw 'Comedian' tonight, and I absolutely loved it. It was strange hearing Jerry swear only because I had never heard it before. It was interesting to see how Jerry is just like the rest of us with the self-doubt and insecurity.
That standup comedy is rough business.
The other comedian featured, Orny Adams, was hilarious. I'm surprised we haven't seen more of him. With this DVD out, maybe we will. I would pay to see him now.
I enjoyed the bonus footage, deleted scenes, movie ads, commentaries, etc.
I hated to see it end. I love the Steely Dan song, Deacon Blues, that closed it out. I hadn't heard it in years.
I remember as a teen, I was positively obsessed with that song.
Anyone who's a Seinfeld fan will love 'Comedian', and others might enjoy it as well.

Although it's been a loooonnnngggg time since this topic began, I wanted to say that I have seen "Comedian" and I found it to be hilarious! It did bother me hearing Jerry swear, but it was such an interesting movie! I hope to get a copy as soon as possible!
