This is posted on "The Walnut Times.com": The Dick Van Dyke Show Revisited!
Yes, it's finally going to happen- what fans have been waiting for for years.

The cast from The Dick Van Dyke Show will be reunited in a one hour sitcom special on CBS.

Carl Reiner has completed his script to bring back together the living cast members from the original Dick Van Dyke Show - and Dick Van Dyke, Mary Tyler Moore, Rose Marie, and Larry Mathews have all agreed to participate in the project.

Carl says that the show will bring the audience up-to-date with the show's characters to let us what each are doing today. There will also be some surprises!

One possible plot being considered would have Alan Brady asking Rob to write his eulogy - subject to heavy editing, of course (as only an egomaniac could!)

Dick and Mary provided some additional possible details duing an interview on Larry King Live when they indicated that Ritchie will return as a dad with grandmother Laura teaching Ritchie's daughter at Laura's ballet school.

Most importantly, it has been confirmed that CBS Executive Les Moonves has given Carl approval to move forward with the reunion.

Will we get a look at the Writer's Room to see how things have changed in 40 years? What about the Petrie household? What does it look like today? As more information becomes available, we'll be sure to keep you posted.

Here's to a wickedly giant "Thumbs Up!"

I read that already and I meant to post it here. I like that idea about Alan's eulogy. I could see it being really funny!! Of course I also like the idea of the ballet school. I just think I should be the one to play the granddaughter. ;)

I know there was hope by some for a two hour movie, but I really like the idea of a one hour special. And I
still have my doubts if it'll all
work but I do think Rob writing
Alan's eulogy (under AB's control)
is a really funny idea. And it's
darn good because Carl said he
always use to ask the writers
what was happening in their lives
and to write from truth. And that's
what he's doing. It's really a kinda
inspired idea. It can be honest,
funny, deal with everyone's age
now, and even mention and pay
tribute to Mel, Buddy, and Jerry
who have already passed before
Alan. It's a sweet idea. Maybe
it's just best to trust in Carl's
genius for this show, and his
pride in it. I guess you gotta
have hope when Carl's in control.
And I know we're all hoping...

I agree w/ Samme. I love the idea of Alan making Rob write a eulogy for him. I could see Alan trying to intimidate Rob and doing all the things he used to, except that he's not Rob's boss anymore, so that stuff doesn't work. That could get really interesting!
