Looks like Drew Carey got the axe today... with some new episodes to still air this Summer.

I hope the new episodes are good/funny, I hope Kate returns for an episode or two... and I hope they end on a high note, or whatever the best is that they can muster.

Putting this show out of it's misery is almost like doing it a favor... I'm also happy to see it retire from it's Wednesday at 9pm slot and not it's Friday "home" where it really died last season.

It will not air in the next TV season (Sept - May), but it will air this summer and next summer, since they have a contract to.

Drew and Whose Line are not canceled. They will just air in the off-season for the next two summers. They both did terrible this season and last season.

There is no official artricle on it's summer run for this summer and next, but the contract is for another year. Here is some buzz:

I must admit, the show did start to go down hill after Kate left.

Last season, I saw a lot of the episodes. But I only saw 1 or 2 episodes where Wick actually appeared. You know things might not be going well when the Anson Williams in the 1980-84 episodes of Happy Days thing happens.

At IMDB, I noticed that Cynthia Watros was listed as being on from 2002-03. Which if correct means she's no longer on the show. Of course, that would mean that the entire cast now is just Drew, Oswald, Lewis, and Mimi. Despite the fact the Oswald and Lewis can still be funny, this seems pathetic.

If Cynthia Watros leaves the show it would be bad because her character and Drew looked like they could be getting together in the season finale which aired last week.

It should've ended AT LEAST 2 years ago.

I guess the Summertime airings haven't improved things for this show. I know ABC still has a long term contract with Drew, but they really should just pay him off and be done with it.
I watched some of the first run episodes this Summer, and it still makes me laugh, but enough is enough. It's a shame to watch this once great show die a slow painful death.

The least the network can do is let them film a one hour series finale.

As for Cynthia Watros, If ABC was smart, they would find another show for her. She was the one bright spot on the show in recent years.

I didn't even realise that Kate left until I watched it a little bit ago. I was like "OH MY GOD!?!?!?". Yeah, this show did go down the pooper. I still like watching it on Fox at 10:30 p.m. :P

It may not air again until next summer.

The only way this show can redeem itself is to have a killer finale. Not some big stunt which has been tearing it down the last few years, but good old fashioned comedy that prevailed throughout the show's first five years. I hope Kate and Mr. Wick can return for the finale because it wouldn't be the same without them. This new Kelly girl is painfully unfunny, especially among a cast like Carey, Kinney, and Stiles. She isn't even a good actress. They should dump her and, in the meantime, keep the comedy between Drew, Lewis, Oswald, and Mimi.

Enough changes. Enough stunts. More jokes.:)

I think that's what they're doing. At IMDB, they have Cynthia Watros listed as being on the show from 2002-03. So when the new episodes finally air, Kelly will probably be gone.

I think the best thing about last season was that Ian Gomez returned as Larry in a few episodes. It would great if they dumped those two boring bosses at the online company and had Larry become the boss. He'd be a really bad yet funny boss like Wick.

I hope ABC really hypes its final episode, whenever it may air. This show was in the Top 30 only 3 years ago and really popular in its prime. With this, "Friends", "Frasier", and possibly "Everybody Loves Raymond" going off the air in 2004, it truly seems like the end of an era since these long-running shows survived amid many lesser sitcoms of the past decade.
