View Full Version : How is the food in your school's cafeteria?
Chocoholic 05-11-2003, 07:04 PM We have two different cafeterias on my college's campus: a sit-down one and a food court. I think most of the food there is just gross. Actually, it's not the food itself that's bad. It's the service. It's so unsanitary that I don't know how they get away with it. Some of the workers there are really rude too. I've had hairs in my food, I've gotten undercooked food, I've seen people lick their fingers or pick their noses while preparing food, and I've even seen a worker drop a utensil and put it back in the food without at least wiping it off first on several occasions :barf: I'm glad my college at least has kitchens in the dorms for us to use. I only eat in the school cafeteria if I really have to.
Mijada 05-11-2003, 07:22 PM When I was in college I thought the food was pretty good. It was the kind of food they would have at a Coney Island or a diner. In HS and JH I would usually get a salad at the salad bar. The salads were pretty good and you could get the most for your money. I thought the other food was ok but everyone else did nothing but complain about it.
Ravey 05-11-2003, 07:28 PM The food in my HS is nasty. Someone once found a cockroach in their pizza, need I say more?
Crimson and Clover 05-11-2003, 07:32 PM i wouldnt know. ive never eaten it.

*Pleasant Tomorrow* 05-11-2003, 07:41 PM I haven't bought lunch since elementry school, but then I really liked it. People who buy now say it's pretty nasty, but others like it so I wouldn't know...
Kay Scarpetta 05-11-2003, 08:51 PM It has it's bad days..... luckily though we have a snack bar with nachos and you can buy ice cream, smartfood popcorn, the bags of lays chips and doritos, Drake's and Hostess cupcakes/other things, Gatorade, Snapple, Italian Ice, etc.
*PinkLady* 05-11-2003, 09:18 PM It's actually pretty good. I like the fact that there's a lot of variety, too.
~*Hannah_Lee*~ 05-11-2003, 09:31 PM Beyond nasty....... :barf: We have chicken of some form everyday. Oh my gosh, it is soooooo nasty. Makes me sick just to think of it. Oh well, no matter, me and my friends bring our lunches.
JDS84 05-11-2003, 10:20 PM It's good.
AllIWantIsYourClutch 05-11-2003, 10:30 PM It's decent. I get a breadstick every day...so I'm immune.
I Dream of Jeannie 05-11-2003, 10:39 PM Well, me and Hannah go to the same school, so I AGREE with EVERYTHING she said, I take my lunch as well.
SBTB Geek 05-12-2003, 04:04 AM Our food is gross.
Kristina 05-12-2003, 04:31 AM It's the equivalent to crap...
JoJoJoJoJoJoJoJoJo 05-12-2003, 10:57 AM lunch at our school was always expensive. the food was ok i guess, for lunch room food, but hardly worth what they expected you to pay.
Krisalicious 05-12-2003, 06:03 PM I'll just say...I don't even think the food in my cafeteria is real food...

°Bubbly Blonde° 05-12-2003, 06:09 PM It's pretty good. We have Pizza Hut, Subway, Chick Fillet, food there. You can order in Chinese food. And the home made food is really good to, they have great fries, salads, chicken wraps, chicken poppers, and the nachos are really good, they give u a lot so I guess my school's food is good.
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 05-12-2003, 06:10 PM I was always satisfied with it. However, my fav. (chicken nuggets) always gave me a stomachache. Oh well, Im still living.
I never understood why the people who constantly complained about it bought it. If you have that big of a problem with it, then damnit- BRING YOUR OWN LUNCH!

Ravey 05-12-2003, 06:33 PM You all are lucky u at least have food from restaurents! All we have is basically school cooked. Some of the food is overpriced too...Here's the prices...
1 slice of pizza (no crust, from the regular lunch line): $1.25
1 slice of pizza (from alacart line): $1.50

And there is some other food....but, we wont' get to that! You be the judge, are some of this food overpriced? I think so, especially the fries! Only 8-10 french fries, the thin kind, for 75 cents! I DON'T THINK SO!
Dude111 07-07-2021, 09:07 PM Wow......... I picked DELICIOUS as when I was in school I loved the food...
A couple years after I got out of school in 1990 it started changing and now im sure its quite disgusting and un-healthy!!!!!! (We need an aquate amount of sodium and sugar everyday)
Im finding so many GOOD threads..... WOW sitcomsonline is awesome!!
Elementary school: The food stunk and it was the same old stuff with no variety at all. However, the Minute Maid juice bars were really delicious.
Middle school and high school: You had a lot more options including a deli along with vending machines, and the food tasted a lot better.

That exactly how my nephew describes it.
With me, though, the food was good from each school.

Did the school shut down? I know I wouldn’t wanna go to school if something like that happened.
Torgo 07-08-2021, 11:26 AM Brown bagged it during Elementary and Middle.
High School I loved getting breakfast sandwiches, and Wednesday's potato bar was a highlight. Also enjoyed the nacho plate.
Theda Bara 07-08-2021, 02:39 PM My high school didn't even have a cafeteria (I attended a small private school). I either brought my own food, or I went to one of the local fast-food restaurants (students were allowed to leave campus for lunch).
IllinoisTVFan 07-08-2021, 02:53 PM Let's see if I remember. I attended several schools so I have to think about this.
First school: I only attended during kindergarten so we never had lunch. I came home at lunch and my mom fixed lunch.
Grade school 1-6: From what I remember hit and miss. I loved the pizza, other things not so much so I brought my lunch box.
Junior high grade 7: Same as above.
Junior high 8th grade: My parents sent me to a private school for 8th grade and they had horrible food. I think I ordered pizza and not much else.
High school freshman year: Pretty bad if I remember.
High school sophomore year: The school switched food services and actually had good food that tastes as you would get in a cafeteria.
High school junior-senior years: By this time I went back to the public high school and pretty decent. I was addicted to pizza rolls, they looked like huge eggrolls and were really good. Sometimes I got chicken dinners or other meals as well.
I attended four colleges and they are listed:
First college: I attended a community college my first year of college because it was free for me (I got a full ride including a book stipend). I don't remember if I ever ate there. I did buy chips and soda and candy but don't remember anything else.
Second college: for my sophomore year I decided to go to another college and live on campus. The food was pretty good and they had varieties, such as one restaurant had meals and they had a snack bar that had cheeseburgers. I remember really liking the cheeseburgers and sandwiches.
Third college: I didn't like the second college so for my junior-senior years I attended an art college. I didn't buy many meals here, maybe a sandwich here and there. I guess what I had was decent but as the community college if I ate there it was very rare. Usually, I either brought my meal or if I wanted something went to McDonald's or Burger King a few spots away.
Fourth college: This is my graduate school and attended twice from 2002-2004 and 2016-2019, receiving two masters and a teaching certificate. First time I don't think I ever ate there because most of my classes were at night so I ate before going to school. In 2016 I started teaching as an adjunct while attending school so would often pick up meals. They had really good soup I always got. I also liked the vegan dishes (I always got the dish with brown rice and vegetables) along with any time they had fish meals (usually Friday was a fish meal). Often I got off work around noon and if I didn't have other classes to attend or teach I would pick up a lunch then go home and eat at home (I only live 10-15 minutes from the college).
