View Full Version : Crossovers that would have made sense
TVFactFan 05-10-2003, 11:16 PM THe Sweathoggs from (Welcome Back) Kotter doing something stupid to land them in jail on (Barney Miller)
Larry or Balki from (Perfect Strangers) running into Harriet Winslow at a Chicago Mall from (Family Matters)
Edith and Mike from (All in the Family) visting Louise and Lionel Jefferson from the (Jeffersons)
(Sanford and Son) crossing over with (Chico and the Man)-both based in LA and were aired back to back.
None of these crossovers were never attempted even though these shows were based in the same area and aired back to back on the same night.

Even though they never crossed-over, in an episode of Chico and the Man, Chico walks into the garage with a tire in his hand. Then he shouts to Ed who's in the other room: "Ed, this is the last time we buy tires from Sanford and Son."

That really was said? That statement would have made more sense if Fred sold them tires in the previous episode at 8pm.
Janice 05-10-2003, 11:48 PM It might have been funny if the gang at Cheers went to New York for a fun weekend, did something stupid and ended up in Night Court.
Both shows were part of NBC's dream lineup in the 80s.
Of course it may have posed a problem because Harry Anderson of Night Court made cameo appearances on Cheers as Harry The Hat.
I think it would have worked, and I think it would have been hilarious.

Yeah, that would have been cool.

It's still puzzling that the writers would include that phrase in the script and Chico never appeared on Sanford and Son. Well I seen every episode of Sanford and Son and know that the show Chico and the Man was never mentioned.
James 05-11-2003, 11:49 PM The Brady Bunch and The Partridge Family could have crossed over some time or another in the early 1970s. The Bradys could have entered another talent show, and their competition could have been the Partridges instead of Patty's Prancing Poodles (or whoever beat them in one episode).

I know both the Brady Bunch and the Patridge Family aired back to back but if the Patridge Family wasn't based in Indiana like the Brady Bunch it would have made much sense.
treky 05-12-2003, 02:07 AM both shows were based in California.

The Brady Bunch was not based in California. It was based in Indianapolis. Where did you get CA from?

I think it would have worked, and I think it would have been hilarious. they could have said that Harry (from "Night Court") was HARRY THE HATS twin brother, and that he's the "black sheep" of the family. The conversation could have gone something like this:
Sam (to Harry the judge)-"hey, you know, you remind me of someone. "
Harry-"Really? Who?"
Carla-"I know. That con man that comes around sometimes, Harry The Hat."
Sam-"Yea! That's right! You look just like him."
Harry-"I should. He's my twin brother. But I don't like to talk about him, he's the black sheep of our family."

Indianapolis? Really? And I suppose on your tv, Gilligan's Island was in Alaska, WKRP was set in a radio station in Buffalo and The Wonder Years was all about growing up in France.

LOL, this would be perfect treky. You should be a sitcom writer. :)

Maybe i wrong, i thought the brady bunch was based in INDIANA. So where was the show based?
PanamaMike 05-13-2003, 03:24 PM The Brady's lived in Southern California.
Whatever led you to believe they were in Indianapolis?

LOL-i thought i heard it was in indiana. That Brady neighborhood looked too dull to me to be bAsed in California.
Flash72 05-13-2003, 07:41 PM You probably were getting One Day at a Time (set in Indianapolis) and Brady Bunch confused, it's an easy mistake, happens all the time to me. Afterall, Alice did bear a resemblance to ODAAT's Dwayne Schneider and Julie Cooper could easily have passed for Bobby Brady's twin.
