View Full Version : Your opinion: What Shows Should Be on Nick at Nite?
paul_belmonte 05-10-2003, 09:57 AM I read that at the MTV Networks upfront this past week that Nick at Nite is going to be adding four new sitcoms to its lineup of Modern TV Classics, including "Roseanne," "Full House," "Fresh Prince," and "Who's The Boss?" While I think it's all good, I think that NAN should add a fifth sitcom to its lineup: "Home Improvement." This is what the timeslot for NAN would be like right now if I were in charge?
SUNDAY-THURSDAY
9:00 Home Improvement
9:30 Home Improvement
10:00 Cheers
10:30 Cheers
11:00 Coach
11:30 Coach
12:00 The Cosby Show
12:30 The Cosby Show
1:00 Wings

3:30 Three's Company

4:30 Kids Say the Darndest Things
5:00 Family Ties

In other words, goodbye "Perfect Strangers" and "Head of the Class," hello "Home Improvement." Now, I want your opinion: What shows would you add on Nick at Nite and what would your lineup be like if you were in charge?

*PinkLady* 05-10-2003, 11:13 AM My lineup wouldn't have the Cosby Show. That's all I know.
Adamantium 05-10-2003, 12:48 PM Well staying with the Modern Classics Ideas.
9:00pm ALF
9:30pm Perfect Strangers
10:00pm Family Matters
10:30pm Head of the Class
11:00pm Wings
11:30pm Ellen
12:00pm Night Court
12:30am Get a Life
1:00am Quantum Leap
1:30am " "
2:00am ALF

3:00am Family Matters
3:30am Head of the Class
4:00am Wings
4:30am Ellen
5:00am Night Court
5:30am Get a Life
In my opinion, Three's Company, All in the Family and Family Ties are too old to be Modern Classics. To me Modern Classics are shows from the mid 80's to late 90's. The Cosby Show has been on long enough. Coach was going to be there, but at the last second, I replaced it with Night Court.:D
Sean Snow 05-10-2003, 01:24 PM If I were N@N, I wouldn't be Modern TV Classics. I'd be just the same old N@N we had before, but with shows from the mid-to-late 70's through (at the most) the early 90's.
8:00PM:* "The Cosby Show"
8:30PM:* "Family Ties"
9:00PM: "ALF"
9:30PM: "Who's the Boss?
10:00PM: "Cheers"
10:30PM: "Wings"
11:00PM: "Three's Company"
11:30PM: "Perfect Strangers"
12:00AM: "Diff'rent Strokes"
12:30AM: "The Facts of Life"
1:00AM: "Head of the Class"
1:30AM: "Coach"
2:00AM: "One Day at a Time"
2:30AM: "Chico and the Man"
3:00AM: "Gimmie a Break"
3:30AM: "Too Close for Comfort"
4:00AM: "Silver Spoons"
4:30AM: "Mama's Family"
5:00AM: "Benson"
5:30AM: "Night Court"
*I'd take these slots back from Nick.
Werm Some shows that I like have bad time slots. I just tried to fit in as many different shows as I could. *shrug*

Cashodeen 05-14-2003, 03:23 AM Modern TV Classics is the pits. I want N@N to be like it was in the good old days. But if Modern TV Classics are a must, here we go:
Benson
Night Court
Empty Nest (maybe that should go on Lifetime, next to Golden Girls)
Nurses (maybe that should go on Lifetime, next to Golden Girls and Empty Nest)
Gimme A Break
Silver Spoons
227
Punky Brewster
Family Matters
Mr. Belvedere
Webster
Just the Ten of Us
*Some of these I really only want to get a load because I watched them back in the day. I know they are pretty bad.
And hey, I have a jumpin' idea for N@N... they should air specials on the weekends or something that airs some shows that are too short to run regularly. :cough cough, Whiz Kids:
Anyone remember when N@N used to show comedy shows? Laugh-In, SNL, and another one which slips my mind. They need to do that too, but show more recent ones. Show 80s-90s episodes of SNL (comedy central may do that already, but heck, I DON'T GET IT), maybe In-Living Color, and Tracey Ullman, man!
harper 05-14-2003, 10:16 AM I want to see the Carol burnett show get life again.I miss carol, harvey and tim, vicki I really miss the old days of Tv.there never will be another Alan Alda or carroll O'connor or Betty White or Dick Van Dyke.again.There aren't any Norman lears who or MTM's or Bob Newhart Shows.when you have people like levinson, patchett, tarses, gelbart lear writing it really is hard to fathom now who is a prolific. The only producer to produce at that level is Bochco.Aaron Spelling no offense to the actors.I miss robert urich and vegas and spencer for hire.I miss mannix because I adore Mike Connors.I'm biased because I grew up with Carol because my dad was on his show No kidding.

I thought I'd let you know that Carol Burnett & Friends will be joining TV Land's line-up starting April 12, 2004. So hopefully by then you will be able to see Carol Burnett.

Is Carol Burnette and Friends the same thing as "The Carol Burnette Show"? The one where she used to tug her ear? is so why did they change the name?

Episodes from The Carol Burnett Show were edited to a half-hour featuring just the comedy sketches. These were rerun in syndication under the title of Carol Burnett and Friends beginning in 1979.
SBTB Geek 05-14-2003, 08:04 PM I don't know in what specific order should they air the following sitcoms, but I think they should add them:
"ALF"
"Charles In Charge"
"Facts of Life"
"Silver Spoons"
"Small Wonder"
"Punky Brewster"
"Blossom"
"Saved By The Bell"
"Mr. Belvedere"
And should keep the following:
"Full House"
"Fresh Prince of Bel Air"
"Who's The Boss?"
"Head of The Class"
I'm almost certain that "SBTB" will be on N@N by 2006, or 2007.
