Was Laverne and Shirley the only spinoff to remain in the same area as it's parent show? Most spinoffs relocated to new areas.

All in the Family-Queens, Jeffersons-Manhattan

Happy Days-Milwaukee
Mork and Mindy-Colorado

Fraiser-Seattle
Cheers-Boston

Mary Tyler Moore-Minneapolis
Phyllis-San Francisco

So if someone knows let me know.

Fish lives in the same place as he did on Barney Miller (I think).

Laverne and Shirley wasn't always set in Milwaukee.

And Good Times (which is a spinoff, although you don't consider it one) moved from NY to Chicago.

When Laverne and shirley first spinned off-it was based in milwaukee. And Good Times was not a spinoff of Maude.

Maybe you don't believe it's not a spinoff but me and a majority of the others around here do.

Read my post that says I found out Good Times is ot A spinoff of Maude. The article and statement by the producer of Good Times supported that Good Times was not a spinoff

True. But Mork could have been in milwaukee in the year 1978 instead of Colorado.

You forgot about "Perfect Strangers" and "Family Matters." FM, a spinoff from PS, was set in Chicago just like its parent series.

I just thought of another one. Both the "Jeffersons" and its spinoff, "Checking In" were set in New York City.

I sure did forget that one. It took me a while to believe that Family was a spinoff until i saw season one of Family Matters. It was then confirmed that Family Matters was a spinoff

Read my post on this board. Titled-The end of the Good Tmes/Maude Discussion. That will explain why Good Times was not a spinoff.

I think the Ropers moved close enough that Jack Tripper jogged over to their new house.

Do you know what episode of Three's Company that is when Janet jogs to the Ropers? Is it the pilot episode for the Ropers?

According to the book, Total Television by Alex McNeil Good Times was the first spinoff of a spinoff although some may debate that and claim Gomer Pyle USMC was. Good Times was a spinoff from Maude which was a Spinoff from All In The Family. You can believe it wasn't a spinoff all you but it was. What gets me is the fact that you believe Blansky's Beauties was a spinoff from Happy Days & Good Times wasn't a spinoff from Maude. I'd like to read your explanation of why Good Times isn't a spinoff, please provide the link.

Why Blansky Beauties is A Spinoff

Nancy Blansky was Howard Cunningham's Cousin who appeared on HAppy Days on Feb 5, 1977. One week later she was given her own show which lasted until May of 1977.

Why Good Times is not a Spinoff

1.No Explanation why the Evans Family was living in Chicago

2.Husband on MAude had a Different name

3.Florida Left Maude because her Husband got a Good Job but on Good Times they were Poor.

4.Producer stated in 1975 that Good Times was not really a spinoff because they changed the Florida Evans character COMPLETELY

5.Good Times was already put in place before Maude Existed

Should I Go ON?

I know about spinoffs. First; Happy Days and L&S were in the same setting: Milwaukee. That's why it was back-to-back on ABC in the 1970's. However, L&S moved to L.A. in 1980--a move not many fans enjoyed. BTW, Mork & MIndy was in Colorado, and JLC was in Chicago. A few other spinoffs did take place in the same city as the parent show, although it's rare. Take MTM for instance. It was in Minneapolis, but Rhoda moved to the Bronx when her series began.
