I think meeting would be an interesting idea, I was reading a Nebraska Football message board back in March and they all talked about meeting for the Nebraska sping game and most of them made it and they all had a great time meeting new people. There were several people who came from different states. There are some people on here I would like to visit with.

mmm i met my best friend on these boards...n yea i met her in person n im staying @ her huose for like a week in june and all...soo yea it can happen.

It's the one negative about these boards. If you stay on for awhile, eventually you make these great friends. But you're never going to meet IRL. :(

Well, maybe you're right. I met a girl in an AOL chat room in 1994, and went out with her for years. We're still good friends IRL.

I almost got to meet Amy, but that didn't work out.

One thing though, there'd me many, many fights. They're bad enough online, I'd fear being near some of these people offline. Maybe some people should get plastic cages with a few holes punched through the top of them. That way, we'd all be a little safer. ;)

True, but don't forget that on the Internet, people are very, very brave, because they have the protection of anonymity and distance. Here, we're not afraid to state our opinions very forcefully. In real life, people are usually much more restrained, just because they don't want to get into fights and cause scenes. The normal social politeness takes over when you're face to face. I'm sure that many of the people at my office disagree with me violently about a lot of stuff, but we never let disagreements progress very far, because it's taboo to cause a scene at the office. The same is true of most other interactions IRL, unless one knows the person very, very well. I suspect that if we had a big Sitcoms Online party in the real world, 99% of the people would be infinitely more restrained and polite than they are here. IMO.

but on this thing i tend to be more outspoken (i'm EVEN WORSE ON IMS)
if we did all meet I'm sure me and Ash would hang as well as me and Katie but then my shyness would take over for the rest of you and that would be the end of it

I agree, I wish we could all meet each other sometime, it would be difficult for everyone of us to meet in one place since we are spread out all over, but that would be alot of fun. I to am a shy person away from the boards, heck I've been here since November of 2002 and I still haven't introduced myself yet, but I think if people got to know me we would get along just fine.
