That's cool. It would be great if she actually came to the boards to chat with us.

Yeah, that would be cool if one or more of them came to chat.

Actually, I think that ALL of the cast members would get a royal KICK out of the enthusiasm that's shown on this message board!

Well maybe not Brian Haley aka Budd Bronski.

Just in case he does visit this board, let me go on record as saying Brian Haley did a fine job.

Although I haven't seen the "Budd Bronski" episodes yet, I don't blame Brian Haley for the failure of "Budd" HALF as much as I blame the "Wings" writers. When Lowell left, the writers should have developed a mechanic who was VERY different from Lowell....even if the new mechanic was an old man or a sexy woman!

Just think of what would have happened on "Cheers" if they tried replacing the character of Diane Chambers with another snobbish, blonde, pseudo-intellectual know-it-all....THAT wouldn't have worked either!

Actually, they did. His name was Frasier! :D I liked him much better than I liked Diane though. I couldn't stand Diane.

Yeah, I always hated Dinae as well. Even though I'm a girl, and I can't say exactly, I cannot fathom how Sam could stand to be around her.
As far as replacing characters with new ones, it was Woody replacing Coach more than Diane being replaced with Rebecca, that was a switcheroo from that show. And I liked both characters, but I think Woody had more magnetism. At least these two were a lot different, even though both were a bit off.
And I hate Alex Lambert. If she doesn't want those guys drooling over her, and playing them off as idiots (even though they are) why is her first scene her with a super tight white tank-like shirt on, and her sticking her breats out more than normal? She's pathetic. I find the lines funny though when she says to Helen, "You know what it's like to have guys chasing after you all the time." And Helen's all, "Yeah, [blows air through lips]".

I never understood what he saw in her either. I find people like her extremely irritating. I grew up with a girl just like Diane, only more bitchy. I hated her guts. She was so ANNOYING!!! I like the Rebecca years of Cheers so much better. Rebecca was a much more likeable character and much prettier, IMHO.

Not to turn this into a "Cheers" thread, but regarding "final episodes".....

I give Thomas Haden Church a LOT of credit...although he attended the "last show" filming and cast party, he declined the chance to appear as Lowell in the final episode. Perhaps he felt that Lowell's return would be a "big event" and steal the spotlight away from the other regulars during that last episode.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I've always really resented Shelley Long barging in on the final episode of "Cheers".
She left that series years before and was not really a part of it anymore....However, she showed up in the final episode, and the whole series finale ended up becoming the "Sam and Diane Show"....with the other regulars (including Kirstie Alley, who had worked SO hard as Rebecca for the last several years) getting the short end of the stick with "quickie" character wrap-ups.

I thought that that was a SHAMEFUL way to end that series. I haven't seen the "WINGS" finale yet, but from what I understand, it was handled MUCH better than "Cheers" was!

As for "Cheers", I think that Diane's return took away from her last original episode. Also, it seemed pointless since they didn't get married. It was just one last fling with Diane, before the show ends.

As for Lowell, he really couldn't come back. I mean it would have been nice to see, but why would he come back? He's got his new life somewhere else and really wasn't aloud back on Nantucket. I think it was cool that Thomas Haden Church was there, though. And next time I see the episode, it'll be cool knowing that he's in the audience. So that he finds out what happens to the characters in the show he's been a part of for five and a half years.

I also don't blame Brian Haley for the failure of Budd. Also, it's like since they had him come, I wish he would have stayed on until the end. I can't stand when they don't replace someone.

I liked the Cheers finale, but I wish they hadn't brought Diane back.

I would have liked to see them at least mention Lowell during the Wings series finale.

On the "Barney Miller" finale, Barney takes some time to reflect his years at the station. He slowly walks around and looks at the past character's desks. Then they showed a clip with the character. That way, all of the past characters were in the finale, without actually being there.

They also kept a picture of Phil Hartman on the set of NewsRadio for the whole 5th season. Of course, Phil was murdered, so that was probably different.

LOL look what they're doing on Charmed. Funny now that Shannen Doherty is gone that there are no pictures of her in the house anymore and she was a family member! Guess it depends on how you leave the show.

I also liked how former regulars Rhoda and Phyllis were brought back for the final episode of "Mary Tyler Moore"...but the story didn't center on THEM.

Rhoda and Phyllis were brought on as Lou's surprise to Mary (to cheer her up). Then the ladies did a bit of their old "schtick" and that was it....the story continued and concluded with the lives of the then-current cast of regulars.

They really handled that one nicely!
