A good episode but did anyone catch it when after Richie missed the free-throw and was walking off with Howard consoling him, Howard offered him a Life-Saver - and the studio audience went ape?
Well, for those of you not old enough to remember the era when this episode first aired (c.1976), you might be wondering why so I'll explain it to you. About this time, there was a Life Saver's Candy commericial depicting someone who just missed a goal and the kid's dad offered him a Life-Saver's and it was a very popular commericial during this time so no doubt that's why the scriptwriters decided to ape it for this episode's tag!
Problem is that for those not seeing this episode on the rerun circuit (or who'd totally forgotten about the commericial), the tag's zinger would be completely missed!

I had actually forgotten all that commercial! But now that you mention it, I remember it.

I was too young to have seen that, but I told my roomate that my guess was that they were taking off a commercial. Good to see I was right! :)
