LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - A year after The WB announced it was picking the show up, "The O'Keefes" is finally seeing the light of day.
The single-camera comedy, starring Judge Reinhold as the overprotective father of three home-schooled children, will premiere at 8:30 p.m. ET Thursday, May 22 -- the night after May sweeps end. The show will get a five-episode run in early summer.
Reinhold ("Beverly Hills Cop," "The Santa Clause" ) plays Harry O'Keefe, a dad who, along with his wife, Ellie (Kirsten Nelson), has home-schooled his three children. As a result, the kids (Tania Raymonde, Joseph Cross and Matt Weinberg) are preternaturally smart but have few friends.
After much cajoling, they convince dad to send them to public school. The series follows the children as they adjust to being around other people their age and the exasperated Harry, who has a tough time watching his prodigies turn into "normal" kids.
The WB initially unveiled "The O'Keefes" at last spring's upfront presentation. It was originally slated as a midseason show, but was later moved back to summer.
