YOSHI: I will be in Los Angeles for a few days on business, maybe this small gift from my mother will help you to remember.

CHICO: So Ed, could Yoshi be your son?
ED: Who knows, it was a long time ago. Where is the box with all my war momento's?

CHICO: Sharp shooters medals.... and a hundred swizzle sticks.... what outfit were you with? The fighting wino's???
ED: A man had a lot to forget during that war!

CHICO:Well does this bring back any memories....

ED: Let's see, was it Kiko from Okinoa, or Mati Hari from Hari Kari?
CHICO: (ala Groucho Marx) Guess the right girl and win a Japanese son!

ED: Mariko, now I remember, it was during the war. We thought we were in love. But then I was shipped out. I never saw her again.....

YOSHI: Ah, Chico-san, I am glad to meet you. I have returned.

YOSHI: So you are my papa-san after all.
ED: If I am your papa-san, I have a lot of questions to ask you.
YOSHI: Yes?
ED: Well.. there is... Well... How's your mother?
YOSHI: Why don't you ask her yourself. I left her in the car, in case you didn't want to see her, but now... let me get her.
ED: Oh my, what am I going to do.
CHICO: Let me help you get it together, man.

ED: Mariko! You haven't changed one bit!
MARIKO: Neither have you, Edward.

CHICO: Yoshi, why don't you and I step out a minute and let these two kids get reaquainted.
(to Ed) And now a message from your heart association, Lub dub, Lub dub!

ED: Let's have a seat.
MARIKO: Am I so old that I may not stand.
ED: No, I am old, you are beautiful!
MARIKO: Yoshi is not your son, Edward.
ED: But I thought...
MARIKO: After you left I missed you too much, I fear, for I married another American soldier, one of no worth. He died in a street fight and left me with debts, regrets and Yoshi.
ED: But why does Yoshi believe I am his papa-san?
MARIKO: Because I have told him that, because you were the best example for him. Now he has grown to be a fine young man.
ED: I see.
MARIKO: We are only going to be in Los Angeles for a few more days, maybe it would be better if he doesn't know you aren't his father.
ED: Ok, I can keep quiet about that, if it is only for a few days.

CHICO: Hey Ed, wait till you hear what Yoshi has working, a thousand fireflies will be dancing on your kimono!

YOSHI: My company wants me to relocate to Los Angeles, but I was not sure how my mother would take the move. Now that I see that she will be alright with it, I have excepted my company's offer. We will be staying in Los Angeles, forever!

ED: How am I going to tell Yoshi he isn't my son?

CHICO: (with Japanese accent): Oh, you not my papa-san? Oh well! I would rather have you not my papa-san than anyone else not my papa-san... Oh ho!

CHICO: This is our chef for the evening, his name is Irving!

CHICO: Watch out! That turkey is packing a switchblade.
YOSHI: No it is alright, he is preparing our dinner.
MARIKO: Very theatrical, is it not?
CHICO: Must be hard making soup.
ED: I hope he isn't serving fingers!

YOSHI: I have found a house that will be large enough for all of us. There is one room for me, one room for my mother and one room for my papa-san.
CHICO: Oh Ed could never take charity.

YOSHI: Oh, it not charity, but payment back for being shining example of papa-san!

CHICO: Well that can never be. The truth needs to be out.
ED: Yes the truth! The truth is....
CHICO: The truth is, Ed is not only your papa-san, but he is my papa-san too.
YOSHI: My papa-san is your papa-san?!?!?!
CHICO: Yes! For I, Francisco Ramon Rodriguez de Sanchez, am really none other than Edwardo Brown Hunio (Junior)!

CHICO: It happened when Ed was stationed in San Juan, recovering from the leave he took in Japan. He met my mother. There they were on the beach in San Juan, My mother in her grass skirt and Ed in his medals..
ED: All except my good conduct medal!
CHICO: Yes, there they were dancing... and then he married my mother...

MARIKO: Were you in love with her?
ED: Yes I was very much in love with Anita?, Maria? What ever her name was... it was all so confusing...
CHICO: That was because of the fever....
ED: Yes, the fever!
MARIKO AND YOSHI: THE FEVER?!?!
CHICO: Yes the fever, father.
ED: Yes it was the Father Fever!

CHICO: Then the hurricane hit!
MARIKO AND YOSHI: THE HURRICANE?!?!?!
CHICO: Yes the hurricane. There was my mother, out looking for a doctor, and Ed wandered off. When they found him, the worst had happened.
ED: I had died!
CHICO: No!
ED: NO!
CHICO: He was suffering from amnesia.

ED: Yes, terrible stuff, amnesia, I had it all over me.. but it cleared up.
CHICO: When my mother died I searched all over to find what had happened to my father. Now that I have found him, I can never give him up or share him with anyone.

CHICO: FATHER!!!
ED: SON!!! (aside to Chico) you think they'll buy it?
CHICO: (aside to Ed) I'm sure of it!

MARIKO: We must return to Japan. Yoshi and I have each other, but poor brave Chico has only Papa-san.
YOSHI: Yes, you are right mother. Let us drink a toast. To Papa-san and my brave brother, Chico!
CHICO: I would like to propose a toast too. To Ed Brown, the father of us all!

ED: Chico, I want to thank you for what you did.
CHICO: It was nothing. I want you to know I did it because I care about you. And I want to let you know I would never take advantage of the situation.
ED: That's good... uh, what are you doing there.
CHICO: Just painting a new sign for the garage....
(holds up the sign) Has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?

ED: Not take advantage, huh? Well that is enough of THAT. Now get back to work!

Fantastic job, Luckymama! I love these episode "picture-books"! And for those on the board that have never seen the show, or haven't seen it in years, I'm sure it's a real treat! It's the next best thing to seeing the show!
