Is it true that a baby was born today and was able to talk at birth? It's been rumoring around, but there's no evidence that it's true as of yet....has any of you hear of this, as well?

The baby needs to be talked to for months and months before it can learn the sounds and imitate it. Unless the mother was one hell of a gossiper. Brian 05-06-2003, 08:39 PM Unless I see evidence to the contrary, I don't believe it. Georgia's on my Mind 05-06-2003, 08:39 PM Jenny, what have you been smoking today? lol TJL 05-06-2003, 08:50 PM The baby didn't sound like Bruce Willis by any chance? ;) Brian 05-06-2003, 08:51 PM Originally posted by TJL The baby didn't sound like Bruce Willis by any chance? ;) Chocoholic 05-06-2003, 08:52 PM Originally posted by TJL The baby didn't sound like Bruce Willis by any chance? ;) I love that movie! Brian 05-06-2003, 08:59 PM Originally posted by Snoopy I love that movie! Ditto. How can someone speak something they've never even heard before? I doubt it's true... ks 05-06-2003, 10:21 PM Perhaps children can hear when parents spend endless hours talking to them while they're in the mother's stomach or whatever...? It could happen *shrugs*. ks BrandonS 05-06-2003, 11:30 PM Human beings learn to talk, by observing the speech of others, immitating it, seeing what works and what doesn't, etc. Without that process, a baby has no way of knowing the meanings of words and how to put them together. You can be sure that no baby knows how to converse at birth. ABlairican Pie 05-06-2003, 11:35 PM If the baby starts raving the glories of Justin Timberlake, the kid is NOT a genius. fr00ti 05-06-2003, 11:37 PM Originally posted by Captain ABlairica If the baby starts raving the glories of Justin Timberlake, the kid is NOT a genius. *InThisMoment* 05-07-2003, 12:17 AM Originally posted by Captain ABlairica If the baby starts raving the glories of Justin Timberlake, the kid is NOT a genius. BTW Thats Freaky! And Prolly Not True....I Hope....Creepy! ;) webuster 05-07-2003, 02:13 PM That would have it's advantages- you wouldn't have to guess what it wants- though if this is reported it probably doesn't understand what it's saying- just making sounds. It'd be hard to believe, but possible. If music is played to a child in the womb- scientists say in life- as a baby the music can be identified, and calms the baby to make it sleep bette-r so if music helps- why not voices. Anyway- has anyone seen the TV show Baby Bob? Is it any good- I hope they get it in the UK cos living tv and paramount have started buying more not as long running shows- My Big Fat Greek Life, The Golden Palace, The In-Laws, The Trouble with Normal, Grosse Point, Kristen- and a few long running shows like The Nanny. Penny Lane 05-07-2003, 02:59 PM Sounds like another great Urban Legend to me! You know sometimes people dream, so vividly they think when they wake, after a few days- that it really happened- and sometimes this is confusing. Other times you have dreams, non related to baby talking- but when you wake up, remember having an interesting dream and try piece it back together- you may have came up with something different? |
