To all those who replied to my,"who would win in a game of chess, uncle Martin or Mr. Spock?", thank you. Yet I strongly feel that Uncle Martin would win. Here's a few reasons why, remember that Star Trek takes place in the 23rd century, while My Favorite Martian's era is the 20th century. Vulcan civilization in the 20th century, if not barbaric, was at best archaic in comparison to Martian 20th century civilation. In other words, a Vulcan of the 20th century would be no match for a Martian of the 20th century. Furthermore, Mr. Spock was only capable of a "mind meld", while uncle Martin could actually read minds. Keeping in mind that there's still 300 years between the two characters. Could you imagine how far along Martians will be in the 23rd century? Of course if Martin really wanted to, he could always read Spock's mind, therefore always knowing his next move. But maybe that would be cheating. Only maybe. Now then, we have to also take into consideration, that Spock is still half human. Not quite as logical or in control of his emotions as a pure Vulcan. The final outcome; Uncle Martin the victor!
One last quip, in hand to hand combat, I'd give it to Spock. Not only does Spock have his Star Fleet training, but I believe he posesses superhuman strength. He'd have to take Martin out before he could levitate.

What is this 20th century vulcan vs 20th century martian stuff? As you point out, Spock is a 23rd century character and Martin a 20th century character. So the question (as you posed it) was a 23rd century Spock vs a 20th century Martin. Since they possess time-travel capability, this is no problem.

Spock's psychic powers greatly exceed Martin's. In the first movie, he became aware of Kirk's need for him at a distance of several light-years, Martin has trouble with just a few miles. Spock extracted information from a Vulcan who was resisting in a later movie. The mild-meld is far beyond simple mind-reading and far beyond Martin's ability.
