Edgar Allan Poe has good short stories. I don't know of one that's easily memorized, though.

How short? I've read some good ones in my Brit Lit class, but I can't imagine trying to memorize A Christmas Carol.

Our English teacher wrote short stories- some were published in books and magazines- abnd I think he may have published some books. Anyway- when our class had to do a short story course- he used his own storys- but at the start when it says who wrote it- he made an anagram of his name and printed that instead. Anyway- at the end of each story he'd ask people what they thought, which they liked best- he got a bit of negative feedback, then at the end revealed he was the author. They're interesting short stories. Edgar Allan Poe's the raven is partially a poem- and if you watch the simpsons hallowe'en special you can learn most of it. We're reading some short story in our Irish Class by Guiseppe Verde- pity the teacher translated it into irish- something which would take a while to translate because our class goes kind of slow, it's about a guy during the famine going outside, nearly dead looking for potatoes and only finding a few small potatoes- then gets back home to find his brother in bed- dead. There aren't many short stories out at the minute that are good and memorable- aren't you allowed cue cards or anything? Is speech class- like a club- or a real class?
