Spike TV Announces John Leguizamo's New Original Animated Project 'Zilch & Zero'
NEW YORK, May 6 -- John Leguizamo, the Emmy Award-winning
actor/writer/comedian, joins with Spike TV in creating ZILCH & ZERO, a 30-minute adult animated special to air on the first network for men, it was announced today by Albie Hecht, President, Spike TV.
Zilch and Zero are two best friends and comedic slackers who work in a video store and spend their day critiquing the latest films to come out on DVD. These characters are cinephiles and are consumed by movie trivia -- including anything and everything involved with the production of the flick -- right down to the dates, directors and even mishaps which occur on set. And,
they love nothing more then reciting their favorite, over-the-top movie lines. ZILCH & ZERO is set in a small movie/video rental shop and features the two best friends in their daily life, which is full of hilarious interactions with friends and customers.
"John Leguizamo is a raw, unapologetically male comedic personality and therefore a perfect partner to Spike TV," said Hecht. "He's funny, irreverent, off-the-cuff and relatable to most guys. It's exciting that his creation will be joining our other adult animated programming for men."
"This special allows me to be me, myself and I -- animated," says, Leguizamo. "I've been living with this idea for quite a while and it's a perfect match for Spike TV."
ZILCH & ZERO is co-produced by Spike TV and Rebel Films. Leguizamo serves as creator. Geoffrey Whalen and Scott McCauley are writers.
Famed actor and comedian John Leguizamo is the creator of ZILCH & ZERO.
Since the late 1980's, he has appeared in various TV, film and theater productions for which he has gained recognition from the Emmy and Golden Globe Awards. In addition to his roles in such films as Moulin Rouge, Empire, Ice Age and Summer of Sam, among others, Leguizamo has also received critical and commercial success from his one-man shows, Sexaholic and Freak. He will be making his directorial debut with the upcoming film Undefeated.
Starting June 26th every week the schedule will be Ren & Stimpy Adult Party Cartoon at 10:00 pm ET/PT, the premiere of Gary the Rat at 10:30 pm ET/PT, at 11:00 pm ET/PT, get a lap-dance from Stripperella and Ren & Stimpy Adult Party Cartoon Classics at 11:30 pm ET/PT on Spike TV's Animation Block.
