I saw a commercial for 60 Minutes on TV land, the legends of Tv land celebrity intervies.
Does anyone know if Freddie ever did any television intervires on news type shows like 60 Minutes?
I think that would be cool to hear about

I don't know. That would be fun to see.

My parents would watch 60 minutes every Sunday. I watched often with them, and never saw him on it. I wonder if he ever was on any news type show. That would be very interesting to see.

I think when he died they announced it on the tv news & radio news. Cuz I remember I found out about it from my friend in school who told me she had heard about it & cried when she found out & I was like huh he died, you're kidding right, he's still on CHICO & THE MAN & she said no he died & explained what happened & how she'd cried when she found out. I thought man that is so sad & bad & wondered why a nice kid like that with everything would kill himself. I later heard it on the news... I later read he commited suicide cuz his wife was divorcing him & it hurt him so bad he couldn't go on. So sad... :crying:

I had done some research a few years back and found a news clip that ran a few days after he died...on CBS I believe...that contained an interview he did back during the early days of CATM. The clip was in an archive and was only available for sale to student film makers, teachers..etc. The piece of tape was quite expensive too....like $400 for a 3 minute spot...but it came directly from the source...CBS Evening News.

I don't recall him ever having a sit down chit chat with any type of news shows.

Chicosladyfair, did you get to see the spot before you decided whether you wanted to purchase this expensive three minute interview? If so, do you remember what Freddie was asked and his responses?

I wonder if there is a way to see it now on the CBS web site. If they had some archived information to download... I doubt it, but wouldn't that be cool if it were possible!

I never got to see it..but I will definitely find the link to it. I know it was an interview spot of him being interviewed on something like Good Morning America or the Today Show way back in '74. I remember it being with Jane Paulie too. I'll have to look for that link to post here.

Since Luckymama is a teacher & teachers can buy the clip, maybe we could all chip in & raise funds to help her buy a copy of it & then make copies for all of us... :)

but I doubt I would qualify. They are probably only looking for teachers of film and such. It is a shame that they charge so much and only let this stuff out to a select few.... :(
