View Full Version : Guest Judges
A newspaper, USA Today I think talked to Simon Cowell. He said that he really hates having guest judges on American Idol. He thinks only himself, Paula, and Randy should judge. Opinions anyone? I agree with Simon. I could do without the guest judges. Most of them irritate me.
Sitcomwriter 05-03-2003, 11:51 AM I agree with Simon.I actually agree with Simon on a lot of things.Anyway I like seeing who the guest judges are each week but they mess up the chesmitry between Randy,Paula and Simon.
Plus they are way TOO nice,Paula nice!
vienna waits 05-03-2003, 03:25 PM Verdine White was just plain scary. Smoky Robinson didn't say anything at all. Diane Warren was cool, but just too nice. (ie saying Josh sounded beautiful). Neil was funny though. I liked him. And with the others its been too long for me to remember what they were like. Who was the judge on #1 hits night? I forget.

Lionel Richie
Cashodeen 05-04-2003, 01:37 AM If I saw my favorite musicians on there, I'd jump for joy. But I agree, the additional judge is unnecessary. They don't offer anything. We don't really need to see a minute long recap of their music career at the start of the show. And tying them into the theme week is "cute" but ultimately a waste. And it does mess up the chemistry between the judges. The judge sits in between Paula and Simon for goodness sakes! Although I think Neil sat next to Randy last week. Anyway, it isn't cool. Simon is right.
SBTB Geek 05-14-2003, 07:48 PM I sort of agree with Simon, but I can't wait to watch Paul McCartney as a judge on AI 3!!!
You know your show is "it" when a Beatle is on it.
David 05-14-2003, 08:14 PM is Paul McCartney gonna be a permanent judge on AI3? And if so, is he replacing anyone?

Not true, SBTB Geek. Ringo was on "Last Call." LOL

No, a guest judge.
LOL @ Cashodeen
Cashodeen 05-15-2003, 03:35 AM LOL. That Carson Daly is just a drip to me. My jaw fell to the floor when I saw Ringo Starr on "Last Call." Of course, Paul would never go on there, and the fact that he's gonna be on AI is awesome possum. Not that Ringo isn't cool, I just questioned him when he actually did an interview for Carson.

LOL... sorry to burst your bubble, but Paul McCartney was on TRL once.

Yeah, but TRL is different from Last Call. TRL has made a name for itself. And to me, Carson was a little better in that environment than in Last Call. I don't know why. TRL made Carson, Carson didn't make TRL. And with Last Call, Carson has to make IT, but I don't think it can. Have you ever seen it? The atmosphere is just so boring and wasted. Of course, some people may think Carson made TRL, but I don't. The concept and layout of it is what made it a success, I think. Carson also appeared like he knew what he was doing on it. Sometimes I feel like he isn't into it when he's doing Last Call. I've seen a few interviews where the guest had to carry the show. The same thing happened to Ananda Lewis. Her time was better spent on MTV, but she branched out to a talk show and was a big flop.
LOL, well I'm done going on and on now. And maybe Paul McCartney would go on "Last Call." I'd be very shocked, but then Last Call might take off and it wouldn't be a suprise. Right now it's just a filler for a late night scehdule. Carson even makes fun of it. Not a good thing. He's not a commedian. When Letterman disses himself or his show, he gets away with it because it's his sense of humor. When Carson disses his show, it looks like he is trying to sink it himself. LOL.
