What is your all-time favorite episode of Mr. Belvedere and why?

My all time fave episode it the one where Heather has a blind French tutor who comes to the house. He likes her and she does not know what to do. Any way if you know any one who has a copy of that I would love to see it I have not seen it since I was a kid.

My all time favorite episode is the one where Mr. Belvedere drives off in a Porshe in search for Wesley when he meets an accident. He gets hospitalized and falls into a coma. He then gets to see what the Owens would be like without him. The episode with the best bit of acting from Brice Beckham, and Christopher Hewett as well.

My absolute favorite episode has got to be the one with the "High-heeled Bandit!" The boys dressed up as ladies in order to catch this bandit--"gives new meaning to the term "Dragnet'!"

Well, if I have to choose just one, it would be when Kevin dated the Amish girl. The episode was both funny and informative!!

Gee, I only remember bits and pieces of episodes - not entire episodes!! It's been WAY too long since the show has been in syndication. Where are the DVDs??

Now, watching the DVD set, I think my favorite ep so far is the Valentine's Day episode with Kevin's "rock band". A very young Fergie guest stars as well.

Speaking of which, has anyone wondered what it would be like if Fergie's character, Beth, made a return appearance with a new boyfriend, Charlie, played by Rahsaan Patterson?

How about a husband played by Josh Duhamel?? ;)

Good idea, but the actor I had in mind is Rahsaan Patterson, to shake things up a bit.

I also really liked the one where George and Marsha go to Florida. Mr. Belvedere REALLY has his hands full with the three wild kids. Just the thought of Snow White and Terminator being on a double bill at a drive-in is hilarious.

The one that comes to mind for me is the episode in which one of Wesley's classmates is diagnosed with AIDS. (I believe he contracted the virus from a blood transfusion). In a school play this boy was supposed to recite the Gettysburg Address but instead he quoted a different Abe Lincoln speech about how we should all be treated the same. This was very poignant because of how he was ostracized following his diagnoses.

That was a very good episode - from the second season. Yes, the boy did get it via a blood transfusion. This was one of the first (if not THE first) episodes dealing with AIDS on a sitcom. Of course, times have changed in the 23 years since its aired, so it is interesting to watch in a historical perspective.

I think you're right. I think this was the first time the subject of AIDS was dealt with on a sitcom. I thought the writers handled the subject very well and the actors did a great job.

I remember the episode where Wes volunteers at an old folks home & becomes friends with a women who has Alzheimer's. I think that was the first time I learned about Alzheimer's and it was incredibly sad to me. I believe that was an season 3 episode. Looking forward to seeing it again once the set comes out.

I remember that. Wesley was accused of stealing her purse and was pleading his innocence. Mr. Belvedere said something to Wesley like if he really had stolen the lady's money, he would've been much more sneaky and underhanded in doing so. Wesley's response: "Thanks for the compliment, Mr. Belvedere!"

Yes - it wasn't over sentimental or preachy. Everyone involved did a great job.

Mr. Belvedere (and many 80s shows for that matter) sort of gets mocked now for those "very special episode" types of storylines, but they always did a commendable job. Alzheimers, AIDS, date-rape, child molestation, Kevin's battle with alcohol, plus his moral qualms about sex, Ilene's character being sexually harrassed. They tackled a lot for a Friday night family show.

Oh, favorite ep: Wes covering up for Kevin smuggling in a drunken girl and how everyone has their own fantasy version of what happened that night (including Wesley's Casino, ha!).

My favorite episodes are always the ones where George & Mr. Belvedere bond in certain situations. It's just hilarious to see them getting along so well for some reason  I especially love the one where they end up having the romantic dinner together that was supposed to be for Marsha, and the one where they deliver Kevin's friend's baby together. PRICELESS

One thing I find interesting about the scene in the episode where Wesley tells Belvedere about the Snow White and The Terminator double-feature is that there was, apparently, an outtake version of that scene, that differed slightly from how it appeared in the actual episode:

http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/4738/thelostweekendpossibleo.png

http://img580.imageshack.us/img580/741/thelostweekendactualepi.png

The above image is from an ABC Fall 1985 Preview Reel that I got from YouTube. The bottom image is, of course, from the actual episode, titled "The Lost Weekend". As you can see, the differences in the two images are very obvious. Even Belvedere's response to Wesley's line is different:

Alleged outtake version: "She's bored with the dwarfs?"

Actual episode version: "Oh? Is she bored with the dwarfs?"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCNor4wM6tk (clip begins at 3:59. Also, notice the slightly different camera work? Wesley says his line in the exact same way in both versions, though).

Mine have to be:

The Outcast

The ep. where Wesley's friend had to deal w/ being ostracized for the AIDS epidemic.

The ep. where Angela develops a crush on Kevin

The S3 ep. where George and Marsha were going through contemplating a divorce, only to have an all-star line-up, which includes one from fellow ABC star Tony Danza of "Who's the Boss?"

The 2nd-to-last S3 ep. or last S3 ep. where Wesley gets too greedy w/ his business.

And the S2 ep. where Wesley refuses to take a bath.

Well, I think now's a good time for me to list my favorite episodes of this show. And here they are, as Bob Saget would say, in no particular order:

Season 1

The Pilot (how can any fan of the show not like this episode? This was the episode that helped get the show up and running, after the three previous attempts from 1956, 1959, and 1965, with Reginald Gardiner, Hans Conried, and Victor Buono respectively, had failed. They say the third time's a charm, but in this case, it was the fourth).

Gotta Dance

The Outcasts

The Lost Weekend

Season 2

The Lion Sleeps Tonight

Tornado

Requiem

Vows

The Contract

Pinball

The Prize

The Dropout

Speechless

Rivals

Wesley's Friend

Valentine's Day

Dinner for Two

The Play (Diff'rent Strokes' Danny Cooksey guest-starred in this episode not long after production on his series had all but ended).

Season 3

Deportation: Parts 1 & 2

The Thief

Grandma

Debut

Baby

Halloween

Pills

Reunion

The Spelling Bee

Jobless

The Crush

The Auction

Separation

Season 4

Triangle

TV George

Initiation

Moonlighting

G.I. George

Marsha's Job

The Wedding

The Counselor (Yes, I like this episode)

Fall Guy (IMO, the best episode so far. It kinda reminds me of the Chipmunks' episode "Every Chipmunk Tells a Story". In fact, both episodes were modern takes on the classic Japanese film Rashmon, a plot that MANY TV shows over the years have done their own interpretations, of).

Christmas Story

Commentary

Kevin Nightingale

The Trip: Parts 1 & 2

FoxTrot

The Apartment

Graduation

And that's about it. I, unfortunately, have not seen enough of seasons 5 and 6 to pick any favorites. But if I do, I will be sure to list them. I don't know about season 6, but I'm sure season 5 still provided plenty of laughs.

I'm gonna keep on getting more fans who haven't done so yet to buy season 4 right now (no ifs, ands, or buts), and also go a step further to suggest them buying multiple copies. I'm not going to stop doing either of them until we finally get season 5, and I am serious.

I just arrived back in Illinois and saw Mr. B on FamNET and this is what I saw so far:

- They're currently at the very end of S3, going into S4.

- The episodes I saw so far were: Separation, the ep. where Wesley's greed gets him in trouble and The Baby.

Only Separation used the full opening credits theme from S3, while the others used the syndication copies.

Marques can you please do me a favor:

If they make it to season 5 (and I see no reason why they shouldn't), and if they show the finale of season 5 ("The Attic", which never aired on ABC), can you please tell me which clips were featured in it. The only thing I know about the episode is that it was a clip show episode, in which, as the title implies, has Wesley being forced to stay home and clean up the attic after his parents ground him. He then finds some company in Mr. B, as the two stay in the attic together, looking back at some memorable moments from the show.

Also, be sure to state if it's full-length, or edited syndicated length (under 22 minutes).

So do I! My mom has it on her cable line-up w/ AT&T U-Verse, but my dad doesn't have it on the COX cable provider in Arizona, sadly.

Correction on that S3 ep. I saw: the ep. was "Kevin and the Older Woman," not "The Baby."

And I'm hoping they do get to S5 and or S6 at some point. The last time I saw a post-S4 episode was on a Canadian rerun copy that was on YT years back and even there they used our syndication prints.

And "The Attic" episode sounds like a good episode!

In the four years I've been into Mr. Belvedere, I have never seen a single season 5 episode at all. I have seen one season 6 episode that was an OB (Original Broadcast) from KABC in Los Angeles (Heather nearly gets raped after her homecoming), but that was about it.

Unfortunately, no one has dared to upload an episode from the final two seasons recently, and I can see why: They're afraid of their accounts being terminated forever by big bad 20th Century Fox (the evil syndicate that owns the show)

Man, not only is Fox arrogant, but they're also hypocritical. They won't allow anyone to upload full episodes of the show on YouTube, yet they have no problem with anyone uploading promos for the show from ABC or Syndication. How does THAT make any sense?

B/c they don't want free publicity for them possibly and it's not like they're gonna lose boatloads of money for any of those S5 and S6 eps.

And like you said News Crap are some of the biggest greedy hypocrites on this Earth next to Viacom and WMG.

Plus, seeing Ilene Graf in a leotard in that episode screams SEXYNESS!!!

Graff, not Graf.

I only know little about the episode, but judging from the description, it was a spoof of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol.

Also, the most interesting thing about Ilene, to me, is that she was (and still is) someone who could easily pass for a 20-something-year-old, despite actually being almost 20 years older than that.

Marques, did FamilyNet go back to season 4? I wonder if they've shown the two season 4 leftovers that were shown during season 5?

They're right around the end of S4 and next week on Wednesday or Thursday at the earliest barring any setbacks and according to the episode listing on AT&T U-Verse, they will be showing the infamous Camp Counselor episode.

And Thursday or Friday next week, according to my U-Verse guide, they're gonna be entering Season 5.

And I tried to find any Mr. Belvedere DVD's at most of the stores I went to such as Best Buy and Barnes and Noble but had no luck finding any of the DVD's at those stores.

I saw the S4 episode Kevin Nightengale where Kevin takes a job as an orderly and they use some St. Elsewhere-like music in that episode. Carlos Lacamara, who was one of the patients that guest-starred in this episode coincidentally would later go on to become Paco the orderly on NBC's Nurses for three seasons.

Try purchasing them online. If you have a credit card, you should be able to get season 4, which is strictly part of their Shout Select program. Ditto Webster: S4

I saw a little bit of the FamilyNet reruns on YouTube, and one thing I noticed right off the bat is that it seems like they're using slightly newer transfers from around the mid-1990s or so, whilst Shout Factory, on the DVDs they've released so far, are using slightly older ones (around the late 1980s).

I know this, because virtually all the eps. on the DVDs end with the original TCFTV logo from the 80's, whilst the eps. on FamilyNet end with the 20thTV logo with the News Corp. byline. The original syndication reruns had all the episodes actually end with the 80's TCFTV logo.

Yep, although some S3 FamNET TV rerun eps. used the late 1990s reruns style (that was also in Canadian reruns) w/ the trauncated S4 opening credits and the 1992-2008 20th TV logo.

The wedding!! That was on yesterday! It was hilarious!! Kevin's friend Wendy comes back from college with her fiancé. Kevin feels Wendy doesn't really love the guy and that she could do better! Than at Wendy's bachelorette party at the Owens house she kisses Kevin than he really thinks that Wendy is just marrying the guy to get over her feelings for him.

Kevin was the best man in a very loud silly looking suit because he had to match the groom , and that was the only suit that would fit the guy being he was very overweight. Turned out the groom was able to get a regular black suit and Kevin was still stuck with the silly suit! OMG poor Kevin objected to the wedding and it turned out Wendy did love the guy and she was just drunk when she kissed Kevin! It was SO funny, and the bachelor party scene in the basement of the Owens house was really hilarious!
