LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - The episode of "CSI: Miami" airing on Monday, May 5 is titled "Tinder Box" and the plot, involving a fatal nightclub fire, is ripped-from-the-headlines. For affiliate station WPRI-TV out of Providence, the story hits too close to home. With the state of Rhode Island still reeling from the concert fire that killed 99 people, WPRI-TV will air alternative programming on Monday night.

"The episode contains some striking similarities to the tragic fire at the Station Nightclub on February 20, 2003," reads the station's statement. "Out of respect for the victims, their families and the Rhode Island community, WPRI-TV will not air the episode."

On February 20, 2003 a fire broke out at The Station, a nightclub in West Warwick. The fire and the mad scramble for exits caused the 99 deaths and over 200 injuries.

The "Tinder Box" episode was in the works before the West Warwick fire. In it, a fire breaks out at a Miami nightclub. Apparently caused by faulty pyrotechnics, 16 people are killed and 56 injured. Horation Caine (David Caruso) and his team of investigators soon discover that the fire was no accident.

In the place of "CSI: Miami," WPRI-TV will air excerpts from "A Night of Healing," an April 22 concert that raised money for the Station Nightclub Fire Relief Fund. The program will be broadcast commercial-free and donation information will be provided.

It's really weird that a lot of current events are very similar to CSI: Miami even though the idea was before it happened.

I thought the episode of CSI last week, about the Nigh Club fire was very well done!

I do agree with decision of the Rhode Island station not to air the episode in respect of the victims there of the tragic night club fire.
