I'm so depressed tonight, I feel like I don't belong in this world. I work at a place called PharMerica and in my department we make these blister cards filled with pills that get sent to hospitals and nursing homes, well we are supposed to make 400 cards or more and I can never make it that far, tonight I made 265 and I rarely ever go over 300. I feel like such a failure all the time. Everyone else is so much faster at making cards than me. I've tried speeding up but it doesn't work. I just don't have the energy and people keep telling me I got to bring my numbers up and it just makes me feel worse. :(

Aww... IMO, it doesnt matter how many cards you get done. The way I see it its QUALITY not QUANTITY. Im sure you do a much better job then they do, so I say do your best!!:D

It could be that the pressure of meeting a quota makes you nervous and the pressure slows you down. Try to clear your mind of distractions and pressures, and concentrate on the task at hand.
You said you don't have the energy. It's important to get adequate sleep and to eat right to keep your mind clear and to function at your highest level.
Don't feel like a failure over this. This sounds like assembly style work. Maybe it's mind-numbing boring and doesn't challenge you. Have you considered that you're too smart for the job?
Good luck. I hope things get better for you. :)

I agree with Janice. Just from your post and Janice's reply, it kind of made me think of the big final grade tests I had to take at hs. Classes were an hour and a half and the tests were very long. I would freak out over time limit and I'd keep looking at the clock and worrying about my grade. Am I gonna finish this in time? Will I get halfway done and get an F? Why the hell do they make long tests and we only have so much time to take them in. Why didn't we start the test earlier instead of having that 25 minute study time. I'd freak out big time. I'd be too busy worrying to actually focus on the test questions.

Just do your best. Try not to think about how many that you've done so far. Don't look at the clock either. Just focus you're attention on the task at hand, just like Janice said.

Your job doesn't sound like much fun. Perhaps you should investigate jobs that might be more interesting. Maybe working in a store would be more fun. Good luck.

Hey, I hope ya feel better. Don't listen to what other people say. So what? You can't do it as fast as other people. They're probably rushing, anyway. Yours are probably a million times better :)

Ugh. It's people like that make me hate the human race sometimes. Seriously, you could just sit there and make a few, take a break, make a few more, joke around with people...you know the routine. This world is so full of lazy people it's disgusting. Then someone like you comes along who is willing to try to do her job, and people make you feel bad because of something dumb like an unrealistic quota. Those people sound like mean jerks and aren't worth your time worrying about. Do your best and let them make crappy blister cards.

I think your too good for the job! It doesn't sound like you're having fun at all. Don't let your career control you! Take it by the horns and mold it the way you want it! If that's not the career for you, then get out of it! So many intelligent people waste their lives away at jobs that don't give them any satisfaction. Don't let that happen to you, ok?
