View Full Version : Anyone think the grandparents should have only been seen twice a season?
TVFactFan 05-01-2003, 07:47 PM The grandparents should not have been on every other episode. Only for special occasions like thanksgiving and christmas. I would lose interest everytime i saw them on the show. They added nothing to the show. Twice a season was enough apperances for the grandparents not 12. THEY SLOWED THE SHOW DOWN!!!
mstewart 05-01-2003, 10:22 PM The grandparents added a lot to the show. Please remember this is a family show and it was good to show the grandparents and offer their wisdom. I love the episodes when they talked about the march. Very powerful with vivid imaginations. I loved it when they closed it singing Battle Hymn of Republic.
The comedy was more there with Clair's parents than with Cliff's parents.

I had gotten to the point where the grandparents were apart seen without the huxtable kids. I don't think they should have been seen too much without being around the children. They were supposed to be guests not regulars
call-alluejah 05-02-2003, 04:34 AM Well maybe that's we're you got it wrong. Maybe they're supposed to be regulars and not just guests. As said before they are the grandparents and represent alot of what Cliff and Clair would be when they get that age.So their importance was greatly needed.Especially since their wisdom allowed people to admire them as great grandparents. They also knew mad people, (ex. B.B King, Tito Puente...)Again, this is a family show, with emphasis on the family.

Any characters who are not in the opening credits does not need to be seen on a regular.
call-alluejah 05-08-2003, 05:49 AM oh come on, how does that make any sense. That would mean that any of the kids' friend's or theo's girlfriend's, would be irrelevant. Which is just ridiculous. People come in contact with the real world everyday and subsequently people outside of their house(usually meaning people not in the opening credits) , so they are in their lives on a regular basis. Tha't's like saying you only should see your friends on a rare basis, when in fact they are very influential in your whole life, though they don't live in your house( analogy for not being in the opening credits).

Your Post makes no sense because a kid who does not live with their grandparents will see their friends more because their friends are usually walking distance from their house. When i was a small child i always saw my friends more and only saw my grandparents every once in a while-NOT ALL THE TIME LIKE ON THE COSBY SHOW. So you statement about friends MAKES NO SENSE.
call-alluejah 05-09-2003, 12:55 AM How can u justify your personal life as a standard for a Tv show. Just because you didn't have your grandparents come to your house much doesn't mean that should be a standard to say that the grandparents on the cosby show shouldn't have been on as much. That's YOUR life, that doesn't mean it happens in everyone else's life and AGAIN it doesn't mean that it justifies the statement that the cosby show shouldn't have had them on as much. And secondly, just because your childhood friend's lived in walking distance of you doesn't mean that everyone else's friend lived in walking distance. So actually your post MAKES NO SENSE.
theanswerman 06-12-2003, 04:17 PM well, kenny and peter, Rudy's friends were never in the opening credits and they were funny. I always wondered why kenny was not part of the cast if he was like rudy's best friend
call-alluejah 06-14-2003, 12:19 PM That's true.Kenny gave Rudy's character a life outside of the family. Which I think makes each character better.
