View Full Version : How About a "WINGS" Book?

OK, which one of us is going to write it?

You know, one of those "history/reference/episode guide" books that have been written for just about every OTHER long-running TV sitcom at one time or another.

These type of books have been written about sitcoms from "The Brady Bunch" to "Taxi" to "Gilligan's Island" to "Mr. Ed" to "Dick Van Dyke" to "Cheers" to "M*A*S*H", etc., etc. etc.

A book would be great because I'm noticing some VERY nice "Wings" photos that should be published as book illustrations....like for instance that new one that we've seen here, with Helen serving a bottled drink on a tray to Joe as he sits in the pilot's seat and sticks his head out of the plane window....Great stuff!

Also a book could update us on the whereabouts and goings-on of the various cast members....

Looks like that should be our NEXT project (after the petition gets e-mailed to NICK).

That would be nice. I have a Cheers trivia book. It seems like there are so many books out there for other shows.

if we really want to go all out on this one ... maybe we can all add something either trivia or about the sitcom itself, and then send it to a small publishing company to get it printed, my grandfather did the exact thing and he made thousands apon thousands of dollars doing it ... another idea would be to publish it as an e-book ... :)

Actually I have seriously thought about writing one, but just don't know how to go about it. ie, where to get scripts, how to get interviews with cast etc. Anyone have any idea.

I guess you would have to write to one of the writers and producers of the show for like the scripts and all ... if you would like the contact info for peter casey and david lee I could get it for you tomorrow

Hi, I noticed that you mentioned soliticting the Wings Scripts. I'm a huge fan and I'm looking for some good quotes from Wings. Did you manage to solicit a script?

Hi! I think it's a fascinating idea, however it would take dedication to come up with a great book. I myself own several x-files books both about the show and some fiction, but after a while I did not consider it as something precious for I decided to leave it in our old house in asia. what i'm trying to get at is that i would rather settle for a nice, comprehensive wings website or an ebook. but still i'm thrilled with the idea! :)

at any case, we can start writing our own detailed summary of each episode. post it in this forum for everyone to see so that everyone here could read it and make corrections or fill in some missing details.

pilotguy. may i ask where i could find the photo you mentioned?

wingsfan77 i also am looking for wings scripts. there are some scripts for sale on ebay. i also found his site which has some nice quotes from the different episodes. Wings Quotes (http://www.wings.kcsky.net/listoflists.txt) the quotes are at the bottom.

i haven't stopped looking for free transcripts from the show's episodes. i'll try and post the link if ever i see one. :)

are the episodes aired on nick at nite are available on closed caption? if so, then it's possible to make the transcripts ourselves though it entails a lot of time and hardwork.

That's a good idea. Althoughm it would be rather time-consuming. (I know, I transcribed a lot of Cheers episodes the same way :) Do you think that the producers would be interested in making this public, or do you think they would want to protect their intellectual property?

Well if you wanted to know what the cast members are up to nowadays all you have to do is search their name...
For instance, Crystal Bernard has gotten into a great singing career, and Tony Shaloub (spelled wrong?) has his own show Monk, and Tim Daly is in a movie currently shooting called Return to Sender, and will be on a new show called Eyes which will premiere midseason on ABC..

Not so hard to keep up. :p

what other news about crystal bernard did you find? i just saw her in a lifetime tv movie last night, but i think that movie was shot a few years back. i wonder what has crystal been up to this year? that is, aside from singing.

anyhow, i'd just like to share this photo

i think this image deserves a page in a wings book. :)
