I received an email yesterday advising me that Time-Life was stopping the sale of their DVDS collection. They asked me to remove the link on our site as of Wednesday (4/30).

When I inquired why, the gentleman in charge of affiliate marketing said he had no information.

I will pursue further.

In other news, WMA offered us 1% on the Image Entertainment deal. But they also admitted again that it was their idea for Paul Brownstein to work with me on the project.

Brownstein is now telling people that the first season boxed set will be available in September.

On a more positive note, your friend, (and my father), Sam Denoff, was recently notified that he will continue as the Creative Consultant on "Life With Bonnie", ABC's hit series starring Bonnie Hunt. Write to ABC and encourage them to find a great time slot this fall (last season they were opposite Frasier! - but they still became a hit!)

Thanks for the update, Doug. Curious about the Time-Life set being pulled. I will be interested to hear why. You say Paul Brownstein says the boxed set of season 1 will be released in September. What do you say? Lolac

Add me to wanting the answer to that last question as well, Doug. I'm not quite following you here. Are you saying that the Season Set that is being talked about in September is NOT your set?

If so, what is the status of your season sets? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

what i'm saying is that there is one entity (Image) presently doing the manufacturing. i'm not in the loop on that although if we settle our issue with WMA and brownstein then I will be. but when they made the deal, they made provision for me to buy that product (whenever it's finished) to sell as the Ottoman Collection (with or without the furniture).

so my ability to release our collection is dependent on Image's production schedule. and for the life of me I can't figure out why it's taking so long.

I'm going to call brownstein today and see what I can learn without spending money on legal fees. We obviously want to avoid litigation because we don't want any friction between us and Carl/Dick (who were both kept in the dark by WMA)

Doug, Thanks for the update. We're still with you, though the waiting has been frustrating. I know that you are frustrated as well. Please keep us posted. And let us know what you find out about the Time-Life Series being pulled. I find that very mysterious. Lolac

Ah, it finally happened! I realize you've told us this very thing before Doug, but it never fully sunk in. Now I get it. See, I thought you had somehow gotten permission to go forward with your set, independent of Image. I see now that this isn't the case.

So here then is another question for you: Are you contractually bound to wait for the ENTIRE 5 seasons to be released from Image before you can get copies and sell your own set? Or can you get season sets as they become available and sell them yourself?

I mean, if Image is gonna release these things slowly (for instance, 1 season at a time, every six months or so) and you have to wait for the entire, full set to come out before you can even begin to offer your stuff, we are looking at another year to 2 years. But if you can get your hands on the season sets as soon as they are released, it will be a much quicker proposition.

So, can you give us any more info on that part of things?

THanks, and hang in there. I'm still in your corner too!
