What do you think are the best qualities of each character?

Joe- He's the protagonist and the moral center of the show. While I never saw him as one of the funniest characters, I still think he's one of the most important. Every good show needs a "straight man", IMHO.

Brian- He's definitely the funniest, IMHO. He's so laid-back and doesn't give a darn about what other people think. You can tell he really does love his brother and friends, although he's not always good at sharing his feelings.

Helen- She's assertive and takes no crap from anyone. She does have a good heart though.

Lowell- He's so dense and even a bit cartoonish, but he's still so funny. He has shown that he can really take charge in a potentially dangerous or threatening situation.

Roy- The perfect antagonist to the other characters. I think he really does care about the others. He'll break your neck with his bare hands before he admits it though

Fay- The sweet, motherly-like older woman who showed that life doesn't have to end at age 60.

Antonio- Nice guy who could really be sensitive and sweet. He had this innocense to him at times.

Alex- Like Helen, she was assertave and too no crap from anyone.

Casey- Ummm, she would have made a wonderful girlfriend for Antonio.

Bud- Wait a minute, I'll get back to you.

When Antonio was lonely, Budd always hung out with him. Remember they had Valentine's day plans. Also, when Antonio needed someone to have lunch with in Budd's first episode, he agreed to hang out with him. So it shows Budd cares somewhat about his co-workers, just not enough to get involved with every little thing (or episode) that goes on in their lives.

Also, I spell his name with Budd. But everyone else spells it Bud. I don't know why I spell it with two L's. I think that's how it's spelled on his name patch. I could be wrong though.

OK, Bud was really nice to Antonio. Antonio didn't seem too concerned that his new buddy disappeared without a trace though.

Bud did have a couple of funny lines, but they would have been even funnier coming out of Lowell's mouth. One Bud moment I really liked was during the episode that Joe dreams that he, Helen, and Antonio die in a plane crash. They're on the plane when it starts to crash and Bud tells them that they have enough engine power to get them back home, then he says, "God help those poor bastards!"

As much as he's supposed to be the "mean, nasty guy" on the show, there's something about Roy that makes me feel sorry for him.

Even though he's a professional competitor, he's also a lonely man who secretly likes, and wants to hang out with, the "Sandpiper" gang.

It was brief, but I noticed a nice "Roy" moment in the episode where Joe, Brian, Lowell and Roy spend that horrible golfing weekend at the Carolina Condo....

On the flight over there, somebody in the plane cracks a joke and you see Roy laughing along in a happy, relaxed manner....It's very obvious that he's enjoying just being "one of the guys".
