View Full Version : Name the spinoff from Happy Days that you didn't like at all TVFactFan 04-28-2003, 09:29 PM I would have to say that the Happy Days Spinoff I didn't like was Mork and Mindy because mork was extra Goofy. I_Love_Fonzie 04-30-2003, 10:08 PM The only spin-off of Happy Days I saw is Laverne & Shirley, but I love this sitcom. For a Happy Days sitcom I didn't like would be difficult for me to answer, because I never got the chance to watch any other sitcom, besides Laverne & Shirley. Yeah these are the Happy Days Spinoffs and the years they began. Laverne and Shirley-1976 Mork and Mindy-1978 Joanie Loves Chachi-1982 I think it's another one but i'm not sure. Adamantium 04-30-2003, 11:12 PM I'll have to say "Mork and Mindy." I like "Laverne & Shirley" and "Joanie Loves Chachi." Plus, I haven't seen M&M in a while, but from what I remember, the other two shows were much better. TVFactFan 04-30-2003, 11:16 PM Originally posted by TVAdam I'll have to say "Mork and Mindy." Yeah the Mork character was much better in the presence of Fonzie and Richie on Happy Days instead of Mindy and her father on Mork and Mindy. That show SUCKED Brian 05-01-2003, 11:36 PM How many episodes of Mork and Mindy have you watched? TVFactFan 05-01-2003, 11:42 PM Originally posted by BJL How many episodes of Mork and Mindy have you watched? I only watched the 2 part pilot with the guest appearance of Fonzie and Laverne. After that-i was no longer interested. The pilot has to set the tone and in my eyes that didn't happen. Brian 05-02-2003, 12:44 AM You can't make a blanket statement like that based on the observation of just two episodes. A statement like that based on the viewing of just two episodes is not good judgement. The pilot does not always "set the tone" for a series. LucyFan 05-02-2003, 01:31 AM I have seen two Happy Days spin-offs which were L&S and M&M. Let me tell you that I absolutely LOVE both of those spin-offs. I just wish TV networks would air these as much as they do with say Happy Days or The Andy Griffith Show. I think the Mork character just had better chemistry with Richie and Fonzie. It was something about the Mindy character that i didn;t like, ThomasE 05-03-2003, 07:28 PM Originally posted by SOLOMON I think the Mork character just had better chemistry with Richie and Fonzie. It was something about the Mindy character that i didn;t like, I liked the Mork and Mindy better than the other spinoffs. It was a good show. It aired on Nickelodeon then on Nick at Nite as well. Brian 05-03-2003, 07:41 PM I agree with Thomas. Laverne and Shirley never really appealed to me. TVFactFan 05-03-2003, 07:52 PM Originally posted by BJL I agree with Thomas. Crimson and Clover 05-09-2003, 01:54 PM ive never gotten the chance to see M&M or Joanie loves Chachi. i have seen L&S and i love it Sitcomwriter 05-13-2003, 11:40 PM There's also "Blanskey's Beauties" with Pat Morita and Nancy Walker. TVFactFan 05-14-2003, 12:27 AM Originally posted by Sitcomwriter There's also "Blanskey's Beauties" with Pat Morita and Nancy Walker. I think Blanskey's Beauties was TOO short lived for me to remember he show. dav4463 05-22-2003, 01:18 PM I liked Happy Days until the 50's and 60's suddenly turned into the seventies. The hair became seventies and it no longer seemed like it had the same feel of the first few years. Laverne and Shirley was great when they guest starred on Happy Days. When Shirley and Richie were sprawled out on the floor and the parents came in...ranks as an all-time classic moment. Laverne and Shirley turned to crap when they moved out to California. I think that's where they went wasn't it ? Joanie loves Chachi wasn't too bad, but you had the feeling it was seventies instead of sixties. Mork and Mindy...too stupid for me. owepar 05-24-2003, 03:22 AM Nobody's mentioned "Out of the Blue," which starred Dixie Carter and '70s/80s teen heart-throb Clark Brandon. Course, I think it ran about as long as Blanskey's Beauties.... I didn't dislike any Happy Days spin-off, though these are the two I liked (and remembered) the least. Out of the Blue is not a spinoff of Happy Days owepar 05-26-2003, 03:07 AM Out of the Blue is not a spinoff of Happy Days The angelic star of Out of the Blue, Random (Jimmy Brogan), was on an episode of Happy Days (I think the episode is titled "Chachi Sells His Soul"). Robin Williams guest-starred in the pilot and Gary Marshall was the executive producer of the show. I've seen some sources list it as a spin-off, others cite those episodes as crossovers. I've got an episode on tape somewhere, albeit horrible quality, and it's got the same look and feel of Happy Days and the spin-offs. Blansky Beauties was a spinoff. Also Out of the Blue was already created before the crossover with Happy Days. Out of The Blue started on September 9, 1979 and the crossover episode with Happy Days aired on September 19,1979. Does that make sense? jehobden 06-08-2003, 04:31 AM Speaking of Jimmy Brogan, according to IMDB, until 2001, he worked closely w/ Jay Leno on The Tonight Show and is a close friend of Jay's. I wonder if Jay ever showed any clips of Out of the Blue on The Tonight Show to embarrass Jimmy the way he often shows old clips of various celebs to embarrass them. Impressions 06-15-2003, 12:58 PM Don't forget that Happy Days spun-off from Love, American Style in the episode #70 "Love and Happy Days", this episode served as the pilot for Happy Days. Therefore it is also considered a spin-off. And if that was the question, it would only have ONE spinoff-HAPPY DAYS which means it wouldn't be a need for the question. Tyler77 06-18-2003, 08:40 PM I didn't like "Mork and Mindy" once the grandmother left and they introduced all those characters like Remo and Mindy's boring cousin. I just can't imagine Mork and Mindy "producing" that giant egg and their son Mearth (Johnathan Winters) hatching from it!! I think that's when it was time to end the show. Anyways, I remember I had a pair of those rainbow colored suspenders that Mork used to wear!!! TVFactFan 07-05-2003, 09:04 PM Originally posted by thefamily     WHAT IS THE DIFFERANTS BETWEEN SPIN OFF AND CROSS OVERS? A crossover is when a character of one show appears on the set of another show as their original character. For example, Fonzie appeared on Laverne and Shirley as Fonzie. A spinoff is when one or two characters of a certain show is given their own show and that spinoff maintains a link to the parent show. For example, The Jeffersons were taken off All in the Family Laverne and Shirley was taken off Happy Days onefortheroad 07-06-2003, 06:42 PM the only happy days spinoff ive seen was M&M and it was alright Lady T 07-15-2003, 02:18 AM Joanie Loves Chachi was pretty BAD; it was just plain BORNING:sleep: TVFactFan 07-15-2003, 05:59 PM Originally posted by foxyhonky1975 Joanie Loves Chachi was pretty BAD; it was just plain BORNING:sleep: I agree, especially when Joanie and Chachi was Boring on Happy Days.
