According to www.tvtome.com reguarding the episode "Home for the Weekend" when Denise comes to visit for the weekend, spents most of her time with her friends instead of her family. On the night that episode originally aired March 17, 1988, there was no new episode of "A Different World".

Since most of the time networks primetime lineup is either all new episodes or all repeats. Is it just a coestidents, or did they do this intentional to make both shows seem more realistic because it would not make scence for Denise to be both at Hillman and visiting her family at the same time.

i would say intentional. That does make a lot of sense. Good thinking by the producers

Could have been A Different World repeat. But I think it was probably a Cosby show repeat. Tonight a special one hour of the Cosby show.
