Ditto to the nets that air reality crap.

My list:
Nick at Nite- I've complained about this one enough, so no explanation needed for this post.
CMT- They are going Junior MTV. Yeah, they still air videos during normal times, but they show the same ones over and over and over and over again.
MTV- Took off Beavis and Butthead and won't show videos at normal times
VH1- Well, it's the best out of CMT and MTV, but stil, it's went down.
TVL- Like I said in an earlier post, I used to watch it all the time, now I rarely watch it.

That's all I can think of now.

^What are you talking about?

MTV airs videos the entire morning/afternoon/PRIMETIME/early evening.

Back to topic:
USA Network
Cartoon Network (although Adult Swim keeps on getting better.)
TNN
Nick @ Nite (not Nickelodeon)
CBS

N@N
USA
TNN
Cartoon Network (darn them for getting rid of The Oblongs  )
TBS (all the good comedies air too early, I never get to see Mama's Family anymore)

BLT

NBC (aka the drama & reality channel) First of all their new comedies aren't too hot to start with & second of all even if they were they put most of them in crappy tuesday slots where the competition is increasingly tough. Third of all, they often promote the few comedies that they do have like dramas (ie: friends, frasier, will & grace).

CBS hasn't been strong in the comedy department (besides mondays of course) for quite a while, but that's not new. However, it would be nice if they had just one leading lady on monday nights that wasn't a brunette for a change!

In a word, FOX!

Thank you FOX for continuing to pollute the ariwaves with horrible and degrading reality shows while dumping or ignoring great sitcoms that could have been long running hits.

I'm giving you the finger right now!

PAX! They used to air cool stuff like the Hogan Family, Life Goes On and Eight is Enough...and now all they show is Bonanza.

TNN also started out pretty cool airing Starksy & Hutch, Alice, Three's Company, Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, and Diff'rent Strokes. I don't even watch TNN anymore since they discontinued airing retro tv classics and bombarded viewers with 4 hour blocks of "Real TV."

I totally agree with you. If FOX hadn't cancelled Futurama, Family Guy, Greg the Bunny, and Andy Richter Controls the Universe. It would be my favorite network.

This is for FOX:

FOX - Getting rid of Sliders, Andy Richter, The Tick and now Futurama is too much for me. I pass over FOX so easily.

NBC - I'll never forgive NBC for treating NewsRadio the way it did. NBC was good up to the late 90's. Then, I watched The Weber Show and DAG. When they were cancelled, I vowed never to watch NBC again.

ABC - It's not as bad as the others (8 Simple Rules... and Less Than Perfect are pretty good). But getting rid of thir TGIF lineup was just too much. It was the one night a week, where the whole family could gather around the set and watch TV together. Plus those were the best shows growing up.

CBS - George & Leo, The Fugitive, The Ellen Show and Bram & Alice. Once those shows left, so did I.

Nickelodeon/N@N - Nick is just Nicktoons. I know I'm 21 now, so maybe it would look different, if I were younger. But since they got rid of Hey Dude and Salute Your Shorts, I've skipped over that channel. N@N used to be good. Now, with the exception of Wings and Perfect Strangers, which both get banished to early morning timeslots, are the only shows N@N has.

TBS - It hasn't gone all the way bad, it could just be better.

Lifetime - It was great when they showed The Golden Girls, Ellen and Designing Women. Then they got rid of Ellen and now they show The Nanny and Mad About You. Nuff Said. (Although I know there are many fans of those two shows, I can't stand them)

USA - Once they got rid of USAM lineup, I quit watching. That was the thing that made USA special to me. If one of my favorite shows was only two seasons long, I always knew it might come to USA. Now it's just Movies, Tennis, Golf, and I think I turned past an episode of Walker, Texas Ranger.

TV Land - I believe the people behind the channel think they've gotten better. But when TV Land was new, they aired their shows UNCUT. Now they don't. Plus they only get like twelve episodes of a show and treat that like if they owned the whole series. I used to watch TV Land, now I don't. With the exception of a occiassional Happy Days episode.

I would say TNN, but I never liked that channel, so.

Like Futurama. I will never forgive FOX for ruining a great hit.

I think N@N takes the cake overall though. MTV has gone downhill. The only shows I like on there are Road Rules and RW/RR Battle of the Sexes. All the rest suck. Cartoon Network has gone downhill too, with the animation of some of their original shows, but I love Adult Swim! Even though it starts at 12AM, I can still record. :D

I agree about what you said the brain slugs that run the programming now. Examples:

TNN:When it was the Nashville Network in the 1980's and 90's my channel was never off the Nashville Network, they had country music shows, reruns of shows such as Alice, The Real McCoys, Dukes Of Hazzard, Different Strokes,Three's Company. But when they changed their lineup to their reality TV crap, and now the new name change to Spike TV,the TV went click.

CMT: All they showed on there between 1989-1998 were country music videos and their Top 10 and later top 20 Countdown of the Week. Now, they repeat specials over and over again, copycat shows such as CMT's Ultimate Home(rip-off of HGTV's Trading Places),CMT's Homes With The Stars(MTV's CRIBS),CMT Inside Fame(VH1's Behind The Music),and the videos go on over and over again as well.

NICK AT NITE: It does not show any older shows anymore. All they are showing now is multiple episodes of The Cosby Show, Cheers and Wings, while moving such shows as Head of The Class and Perfect Strangers to the wee hours of the morning.

TV LAND: Mainly the shows that they only show two seasons of and a handful of the others(Hazel, Donna Reed, Father Knows Best, Flying Nun,for examples). Either TV Land shows the whole series run or not at all. And they are politically incorrect when it comes to some shows(Sanford and Son and The Munsters come to mind,Sanford and Son because of the N word and The Munsters and an episode where Herman and Eddie fight bullies)

I can't believe I forgot to mention The Disney Channel. It's not so much the shows there that annoy me, it's the channel itself. Boy Meets World has ridiculous cuts, not just for time, but also for content. Also, Disney Channel used to be commercial free. And now it's just the same stupid commercials over and over again. And they're all for the Disney Channel. Like, they'll have a commerical saying "Up next, Sister, Sister." Then when the show comes back on, a little blue thing comes in the corner and says "Up Next .. Sister, Sister." It's like, we know that. A commercial was just shown five seconds earlier. I keep hoping Boy Meets World will either find a better channel or go to DVD, so I can get rid of Disney for good.

Nick-at-Nite: Most of their shows are now considered "Modern TV Classics", and all they ever show is The Cosby Show. They don't air Classic Television anymore, and they care only about double takes.

Disney Channel: They used to air Growing Pains and the The Torkelsons etc. Now all they ever our Lizzie McGuire, Even Stevens and That's So Raven, which are all Disney originals, It's just not meant for the whole family. They don't even air classic Disney movies anymore. The Disney Channel, has lost it's magic.

Nickelodeon: They used to show sitcoms like Salute Your Shorts, Welcome Freshmen, You Can't Do That On Television, Roundhouse, Are Your Afraid of the Dark?, Gameshows etc. What ever happend to all of those shows? They've stopped airing all of them. Now they air all NickToons, and they made it for a younger age group, Nickelodeon needs more variety. Either they need to bring them back, or create a new network devoted to Nickelodeon Classics.

TNN: They used to show sitcoms like Three's Company, Diff'rent Strokes, etc, everything seemed to be better back when it was the OLD TNN. All they air now is reality shows and game shows, and they've become Spike TV, and TV for Men.

Disney Channel - Oh lord, this channel makes me sick now. It has gotten way too damn trendy it's disgusting. I liked it better when it was more family friendly.

TNN - When it started airing Alice and TV Bloopers & Practical Jokes, I thought it was going to be an awesome place to see my favorite sitcoms. I was wrong.

Nickelodeon - It has gone the same direction as Disney. Granted Nick has always been a kids channel, but their programming from the 80's was much more unique and had a lot more substance.

Cartoon Network - Was an awesome channel at first showing so many of my old favorites, but now air basically nothing but original crap. Thank God for Boomerang!

The following networks have gone downhill (or should I say JUMPED THE SHARK?) IMHO:

ABC: After they cancelled The Wonder Years ten years ago I pretty much stopped watching primetime TV, with the exception of shows I started watching prior to 1993, such as Family Matters, Home Improvement, and Step By Step. (One exception is Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?.)

CBS: The only show I watch on this network is Touched By An Angel. That's cancelled. They seem to be more interested in reality shows like Big Brother instead of more wholesome stuff like reunions of The Waltons (the last of which happened more than six years ago!!!). Don't count on me watching the "eye network" anytime soon!

NBC: I could not believe they cancelled Our House (1986-1988) after only two measly seasons! Plus, it is unfathomable that they signed Friends to a tenth season! :barf:

Fox: Is it that necessary to extend the contract of The Simpsons through 2005??? Enough is enough! (I mean, how old will Bart be? 40?)

TNN: I lost respect for this network after it alienated fans of Alice, The Dukes of Hazzard, and The Waltons and jumped on the WWE bandwagon. :barf:

Nick at Nite: This network "jumped the cans" when it had The Brady Bunch, Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, and The Wonder Years as part of its prime-time lineup in the summer of 1998. With the addition of All in the Family in the fall of that year it began its leap over the shark, completing its shark jump by becoming the home of "modern classics" (an oxymoron if you ask me!) which are less exciting than watching paint dry if you ask me. :sleep2: However, it is "un-jumping" with the addition of Perfect Strangers. Unfortunately they have a long way to go before reverting to 1998 form.

FOX= For cancelling Andy Richter, Futurama, and Family Guy for reality shows that they would tear to shreds. Next on FOX: There are 20 women and one guy. Sound familiar? Well, it isn't. These women think he's the Angel of Mercy. He's really Death. But they won't know that until their final call. Joe Angel of Mercy, on FOX.

N@N= For moving Wings to 1 a.m. and only showing one episode. Plus, they're adding Full House this fall.

A&E= For taking off NewsRadio. The thing A&E needs the most is comedy.

I agree. Whenever I watch my NewsRadio tapes, all the commercials are always so serious.

ABC--they just can't seem to get a hit anymore
TV Land--for dumping Adam-12, and The Love Boat
Nick @ Nite--for airing way too much of The Cosby Show.
Game Show--although I watch it occasionaly, I wish they'd bring back shows like Tic Tac Dough. New game shows just aren't as entertaining as the "older" ones, IMO.

Great Topic!

Here is my list and comments:

FOX: It's become the "Jerry Springer" Network with over the edge TV, geared toward a "wrestling oriented type crowd" It's two "over the top now" and "You stole my sister's boyfriend!!!!" crap. The celebrity shows are a joke! (celeb boxing) or let's do some kind of daring gross-out "Jackass" style programming. "When Good Animals go Bad" Enough! Go back to some good reality based cop shows or show some good movies.

PAX TV: It's a religious station......No! wait it's a family station! Well..now it's almost a 24 hour infomercial! What happened?

TBS/TNT: Need more commercials in your movies? Look no further! They can fill a 2 hour film with 45 minutes of commercials! (I used to call these guys the Clint Eastwood Networks, because they would have Eastwood films on more often than anything else!) I hate both of them because they show more commercials than anyone else!

Nick at Nite: Lost all classic programs from the great mid to late 80's years when Nick at Nite was the home for classic TV. I love Cosby but it's being overplayed as everyone has touched on!

Game Show Network: Hasn't gone bad, but has too many originals. Bring back the classics and move Let's Make A Deal to a better time slot! Lingo is the only orginal that I watch regularly. Sometimes Win Tuition. However, less orginals and more classics are needed.

TV Land: Better schedules than in the past, but needs to stop editing their shows! Show the shows uncut! (You could even have infomercials from 4 am-6 am to make up for any lost revene) TV Land used to show sitcomes uncut but not now! (However, I think that they edit less than Nick at Nite) Old classics like "Leave it to Beaver" and "I Love Lucy" seem to be only minory cut compared to other shows like The Brady Bunch, which has more holes in it than swiss cheese.

Disney Channel: Never a Disney fan, but I remember people talking about the classic movies and quality programming. Now it's just a rehash of series that have been rerun 100's of times and cheesy originals. When did the Disney Channel start adding commercials? They just added it to our standard cable about a year ago, when it had originally been a premium channel.

KILL ALL THE COURT SHOWS ALREADY!!!! We have Judge Judy, Judge Hatchett, Judge Brown, Judge Moe, Judge Blow, Judge Shmoe....ENOUGH!

I completely agree. I read on GSN's message boards about how they have over 600 episodes of Hollywood Squares but they only show 150 or so. I've become a big fan of the show lately, so I say: cut down on the originals and show more of the good stuff.
