This is not really a post of much but something cute :)
I have an 8 year old daughter who's been watching a lot of older shows with me - Gidget, Flying Nun, Three's Company, Laverne and Shirley, etc. She LOVES this stuff, this old comedy and cuteness. A couple nights ago before she went to bed she aksed if I would leave Sister Bertrill on so she could watch it! I was shocked that she knew who Sister Bertrill was! She asked me to make her a tape to take to her room of the Flying Nun, Gidget and Laverne and Shirley so she could watch them :)
I just thought it was cute that such an old show is endearing to such a young kid :) Much better than the stuff that is on TV today!

While I don't recall Sister Betrille's civilian name, even with having whatched the show regularly, one of my regrets is that it wasn't Gidget finding religion, with a bit of continuity for Sally Field.

I totally agree with you. The oldies are the goodies. There are a few cute current shows out there though--But I TRULY love many shows from the 50s 60s & 70s (esp I Love Lucy, The Adv. of Ozzie & Harriet, Bewitched, All In The Family)

The pilot for The Flying Nun (or one of the early episodes) uses footage from Gidget in order to show what Sister Bertrille's civilian home life was like!

I didn't care for Gidget, but The Flying Nun was a decent show, despite the silly premise. The show had a unique look and atmosphere with the nuns at the convent and latin setting. Most of these Flying Nun episodes are enjoyable. The first two seasons are available on DVD, hopefully the third season will be issued as well so fans can complete the collection.

Oh well, I absolutley love Gidget!! But didn't discover that show until it was returned to syndication in the '80s.....I grew up with The Flying Nun and would love to see them again. I need to either buy them or rent them from Netflix

Gidget was very hit and miss, when it's hot it's hot and when it's not it's not. But the high pts do have lots of charm. Great dad on the show--in the same vein as Ward, although of course not as GREAT as Ward. The wannabe shrink brother-in-law could be cute at times.

Gidget is a masterpiece compared to some of the tripe that is passed as situation comedy today! And so is The Flying Nun :)
