Any of Norman Lear's shows that go beyond seven years. I backed that up with the final season of One Day At A Time. Those episodes were horrible, except maybe five episodes. The show should had ended at season eight with Ann Romano and Sam Royer getting married then moving off to London for her new job running an Ad Firm. What a powerful way to end a series like that especially the way we saw Ann Romano grew and mature as a person over the seasons that the show was on.

Another Norman Lear show stayed on too long was All In the Family. Mike and Gloria leaving for CA should had been the series finale. Maybe an occasional special with the four of them like the Lucy and Desi Comedy Hour.

Maude was heading there until Bea Arthur pulled the plug. That last season was ho hum. The concept definitely played out.

Other shows that had terrible final seasons:
The Cosby Show - let's don't state the obvious on that one.
Full House - Wore its welcome out.
Petticoat Junction - Without Bea around
Kate & Allie
Three's Company
Happy Days - Good to see Joanie and Chachi married.
The Facts of Life - it should ended when Charlotte Rae had enough
Different Strokes
Sanford and Son - Another Norman Lear show stayed on too long.
Cheers - Obvious one
Who's the Boss
Growing Pains

The following shows had terrible last seasons IMHO:

Laverne and Shirley (mostly for the Playboy and Squendolyn episodes :barf: )
Step By Step
The Waltons (it's the Waltons, NOT THE BURTONS!!! )
The Wonder Years (sure I'm a huge fan, but the last season was so uncharacteristic of what I was used to!)

That's all I can think of at this moment.

I disagree. The last season held pretty well I thought. The move to the country was a great idea and offered the writers stories to write about it. There were so many great episodes in the last season as opposed to the very first season such "Lucy and Bob Hope", "A Visitor From Italy", The 4-part vacation in Florida and Cuba, The Loving Cup episode, the Superman episode, and finally some of the country episodes.

Agreed. This show was fantastic in the early-mid 90s, but it had completely gone into the tank by it's last season.

I hate the superman episode. And the country bored me. *shrugs*

Family Matters, definitely. It screwed itself when Urkel was made one of the stars.
Also, pretty much every Norman Lear sitcom because they all ran a lot longer than they should have.

Cosby and Step by Step along with Family Matters were fine with me. Roseanne and Kotter had serious problems.
