Whatever happened to the white guy that liked Kim on A Different World? It just reminded me of it yesterday when I saw an episode. I don't remember his name, but it became an issue when they started dating. He was Freddy's cousin.

His name was Matthew...I'm watching that season now and it seemed like he vanished with no explanation during this season.

They never fully explained it, although they did touch on it at the end of season 4. If I'm not mistaken, he was going to Seattle to work for a theater production company and Kim was going somewhere else, and she wasn't able to commit to him that she would stay in touch. I think she said they "would see what the summer brings us" or something.

I guess he took Kinu with him :)

I always wondered what made the writers write Kinu and Matthew into and out of the storyline so quickly.

That episode just came on today (UPN's been showing them slightly out of sequence). Matthew was going to a summerstock theater group in Seattle, and Kim received a grant to study in London during the summer. And you're right, they did say something in the lines of "we'll see what happens over the summer."

There was an episode where Freddie is bugging Kim about him...because Kim tells Whitley that long distance relationships can work when Whitley was going to move to New York and Freddie says "Well, what about my cousin Matthew??" I think Kim told her that they would talk about it later.
