View Full Version : Howdy
Dammit 04-22-2003, 12:30 AM I had a few minutes and access to a computer/internet, so I thought I'd drop in and say hi. For those of you that wished death upon me, sorry, I'm still very much alive....but damn its hot here.
Did I miss anything good??
For those of you who sent well wishes through my bud (Ags2000), I did recieve them, and I thank you. Also thank you for the requests for my addy, unfortunately I am not able to recieve mail (never in the same place long enough...I've been here for 15 hours, and am getting REALLY antsy, this is just nuts).
Hope all is well back at the home front.
Chocoholic 04-22-2003, 12:31 AM Hi  Glad you're safe.

dawsongirl 04-22-2003, 12:24 PM Nice to see you drop us a line!
*PinkLady* 04-22-2003, 04:01 PM Good to hear from you!
Dammit 04-22-2003, 04:26 PM unfortunately still here...sigh...but I get to play on the internet.
Kinda weird getting more than 4 hours of sleep at one time, but man it feels good.
not many stories to tell. We did what we were supposed to do, and you heard about some of it on tv I'm sure. If we had screwed up, you would've heard about a bunch of special ops guys being killed. Some things we did you will never hear about. The joys of belonging to a group that doesn't exist :)
It was nice to see how happy the Iraq people were to see the American and British troops. I was quite surprised at the Iraqi people that were taking their shoes off and hitting statues and pictures of Saddam, that is a very bad thing over here. The foot/shoe is unclean, and being hit by it is a bad omen and one of the worst things someone can do to you.
I did see Iraqi men and women bear arms against rebel forces and fight on our side, and that was pretty neat.
I got to call home and talk to family yesterday...forgot about the massive time difference and called at like 3 am (oops). But it was the first time I've talked to anyone stateside. I got to hear about all the things going on over there.
Kind of nice being in a place that appreciates us for what we are doing and are glad to see us. Was asked some difficult questions like..why are your people against this when it is what we want?
I got my first real hot meal (mre's don't count) in weeks when an Iraqi family invited us into their home and fed us after we had finished a mission, that was nice of them.
Many of the captured Iraqi soldiers were wanting to bear arms agains the rebel's, but we were unable to allow them all to bc of the fear that some of them were the rebels.
My sleep schedule is all messed up. Its after midnight here, and I should be in the sack, but I'm not the only one fighting over getting to play on the computer. But, at least the line for this wasnt near as bad as the line to call home.
Y'all have a good one.
