Does anyone have a problem with losing weight and keeping pounds off? I feel like I'm a Noah's Ark of caloric intake, I consume two of every species of pizza out there. I eat small in the day, but then I get hungry at night and eat too much...:(

I'm short (5'2) so every pound shows up on me. I've been counting calories for 2 months and excercising, but it hasnt worked yet. I'm getting really frustrated too. I'm trying to do the weight-watchers stuff, but I don't think it's working either.

I do that too, but I eat like a bird. A little here...then a little later....then a little later. I hate eating huge amounts at once.

But yeah, I'm 5'4", 133, so I'm not a stick.

I'm having a really hard time losing weight. I'm only 16 and I just cant do it. There was a point in time where I lost like 40lbs. and it was ok for then. I've kept that weight off for like a year and then I stopped excercising. I think I've gained maybe 10lbs since. But I'm having a hard time getting into the habit of eating right and exercising again. My goal is to lose 65lbs and it feels like its sooooo far away. I keep tellin myself "Tara you can do this." and then it just doesnt happen. But i seriously have a problem losing weight....

Yeah, I'm like you in that respect. I don't eat a lot but everything I do eat is junk, yet somehow I manage to remain 112lbs (I'm 5ft5).
You're right though - we will need to be careful cos it'll catch up to us someday. My father was as thin as a rake when he was my age but he's pretty flabby now. I don't wanna end up like him!!
I'm in no position to give diet advice to anyone. I don't mess around with dieting anymore cos I had a bit of a problem with food (I don't like the term 'eating disorder' but I guess that's what it was) when I was a teenager and I got really ill.

I cannot lose weight to save my life. I'm trying my hardest - I exercise regularly and eat a lot less fat/carbs/etc. than most people. But nothing works. God, I hate my body - there's way too much of it.

ive never tried to lose a lot of weight (im 5'2' and 102 pounds) but i dance and my studio makes it pretty impossible for us to gain weight!

but i do know what they have others do in order to maintain their weight:
*drink water- im talking a LOT of water, water makes it possible to lose weight while sodas/juices make you gain
*dont eat during the last 4 hours before you go sleep. (if you go to bed at 11, dont eat after 7) that may be your problem if you eat a large meal late in the day.
*soup as opposed to sandwiches when possible (a lot fewer cals)
*work out, but dont go crazy for a short time and then stop- that will cause definite weight gain

yeah a girl in my class lost 7lbs by not eating after 5. And getting 8 hours of sleep at night.

OMG I should be the spokeswoman for Jenny Craig or something! LOl. I've wanted to lose weight since I was in 3rd grade I believe. Each year I seem to gain more and more. Ugh! It sucks! I want to lose it, yet I dont have the motivation to. Ill eat healthy, but then I cant resist the snacks!! The only good thing is is that I dont like sweets and since I do the foodshopping, Ive cut down on the chips and stuff. Its not really a matter of WHAT I eat, but how MUCH I eat of it. Stop eating 4 hours before you go to bed?!? Riiiiiight. Ok, given I go to bed @ like, 2ish that means 8pm. Im always eating a snack during Conan or Ill even bring something upstairs with me. Ive gotten better though!:D I like water, but only Poland Spring (picky, picky :nonono: )- I refuse to drink tap water. Ick. I got Slim Fast bars-- yea they suck- way too sweet. And the shakes? puke: Gross! I dont have a good metabolism never did, and I hate the outdoors with a passion. I think my worst enemy is the TV and computer. Each year I tell myself Im gonna do something about it, but then the next day its like eh whatever who cares!! I need to motivate myself though to lose SOMETHING-- even 1 dress size would be nice. The thought of becoming bulimic or anorexic sickens me though and they have never crossed my mind. Im not that desperate! But yea, enough rambling lol. I think the best advice I could give is to just drink more water and stop the sodas. Try to eat more veggies (without the creamy dressings - which is my worst enemy!) in the raw, and eat more fruits. Yah, exercise is good, but Id rather eat healthy and do nothing, than to run 5 miles everyday and eat Fast Food everyday.

Two things:

Dont go back to your old ways. If you decide to make a change- you need to stick with it!! Once you lose the weight you have to stick with your program to keep it off.

Dont get into diet fads! Yah, you get faast results, but you get even a faster gain after its all done. Whats the point?!?

Thats my biggest problem. I drink so much damn soda. I'll usually drink like 2-3 cans of soda a day. But I'm trying to cut down. Now I try to drink only one can of soda at a certain time during the day. like I pick the time I wanna drink the soda and thats it. And eventually, I wanna eliminate it completely...
And exercise- I can do sit-ups and stuff like that. But running and going outside is like hell for me. Running is really hard cuz I have asthma and I cant breathe. Walking is okay but its so boring. But i found that sit-ups worked good for me. You wont see results right away but it works...
Also, dont eat your food really fast. Eat really slow. You get full quicker.
See I can give you all the advice you want but when it comes to actually doing it, its really hard to get into the swing of things.

last summer, i didn't eat any meat and i counted my calories. i dropped like 20 pounds + i exercised every single day.... i didn't have any motivation but i knew it would be better for me. then near the end of the summer, i got into a bathing suit and i looked pretty good in it. i was proud of myself. as long as you know it's going to be healthy for you i'd go on a diet. don't starve yourself and become all anorexic and stuff. just eat a healthy diet..... like here's what i eat every day: breakfast- fruit and glass of milk or juice, lunch- and i go to HS and it's tempting to get the greasy *yummy* (blah) food there but try packing your lunch like a sandwich with a type of meat on it, water, carrots (or any type of veggie) and i normally bring in a little salad or something like that then for dinner- what ever my mom makes but eat SMALL AMOUNTS OF FOOD. THAT'S THE KEY TO LOOSING WEIGHT.... PORTIONS!

Yes I've had a lifelong battle with obesity, I'm in the process of having Gastric Bypass surgery. I had to lose 10lbs (everyone has to not just me it's required) for the surgery and I lost it by drinking Aktin's shakes (the ones ready to drink in the can) 3 times a day and water. They are good not like Slim Fast, Slim Fast has almost 30 grams of sugar, Atkins only has 1 gram. The only bad thing about the Atkins is that they are expensive it cost me $9.99 for a 4 pack of cans.

Counting calories sucks.. I wish I had never started doing it. Now I've practically become a compulsive calorie counter... I do it without even giving it a second thought.

Update:

Today all I drank was water. (9 bottles). I went swimming this morning and actually had breakfast. (Toast and an apple.) I'm not eating after 6:00.

My friend and I decided last night that we would start our diet and excercise today. Today, before lunch, she says "I don't wanna eat healthy anymore." ANYMORE? She didn't even start. I guess I'm on my own.

I'll show her, though. 4 months from now I'll look fabulous, and she won't. Ha!

Is that when you have your stomache stapled? Or am I thinking of something different. Wait.. isnt that what Carnie Wilson had? She looks really good now. 10 pounds?! Meangya if I could lose the 10 pounds I might as well lose the rest of it!

I was skinny until I hit my 20s, then an appropriate weight until my mid-30s, and ever since then I've been gaining. Say all the bad things you want to about it, but the Atkins diet works, which is certainly one criterion for a diet. I went from 205 to 180 in a couple of months while eating huge portions of food. It would be a bad diet to do 24 x 7 forever, but I am having success at using it for a month or so every time I start to gain too much. A recent large study by Duke University showed that it was more effective than the American Heart Association Step 1 Diet, improved blood cholesterol the same amount, and improved triglycerides more. The nice thing about it is that you can eat as much as you want without considering calories.

yes it's the same surgery Carnie had and Al Roker had it done too and some other celebs. The hospital I go to in Boston requires that everyone loses 10 lbs before the surgery it helps make the liver smaller because he has to be able to lift it up to get to my stomach. It was hard as hell to lose those 10 lbs it only took me about 2 weeks with the Atkins shakes.
