I'm back from a week's vacation in Orlando, Florida.
Yes, I've signed the "WINGS" petition, and I think that it's great that this was set up.
While I've been taping the 1 AM single-episode showing of "WINGS" each night (and watching them the next day), it's not the same as curling up on the couch at 11 PM for a double-episode treat after a hard day's work.
Remember that I'm the "New Guy" who just discovered how good a show "WINGS" was/is? Well, I've also noticed that the third season (the ones that are being shown now) marked a turning point in the show as far as great comedy writing goes.
The first and second season shows were "cute" and "pleasant", but the writing really took on a snappy "Cheers" and "Taxi" tone with the third season. Part of the reason was probably the addition of Antonio to the cast...He added a hilarious, deadpan delivery and was able to offer many funny lines that just wouldn't have seemed right delivered by any other cast member.
The only thing that I DON'T like about the third season is the rather sad and depressing turn that the "Joe and Helen" relationship took, but as we all know, THAT will eventually make another turn in the OTHER direction!
Yes, there are some VERY funny episodes in "Wings" third season...but what happened to the rest of the second season episodes? NICK seems to have skipped a bunch of later second- season episodes.....and I really wanted to see that one where Brian thinks that Fay is a serial murderess!
