Have you guys noticed that when the look of the show changed, the music did too? Season One's music had that Hawaiian/Country type of tune going while season Two was more upbeat, jazzy and a lot of hip flavored. I liked the newer tracks. BTW when the show was launched into syndication back in 1991, some of the season two tracks were mixed into season one episodes. I know because I remember watching the first season when it aired on NBC between 1987-1988. Before the last scene was aired, the show would break for another commercial and then the final scene was introduced, then the closing credits. In the syndicated version of season one, a soundtrack from season two plays while the scene crossfades to the final. Some instances:


Rudy and the Snow Queen[after Rudy leaves Whitley room there was a commecial break there(originally), but a soft flute solo along with a slow tuned playing keyboard is mixed in while the scene crossfades to the final scene].

Personally, I don't think the mixing of backround music from later years of the show did the first season any justice. If there had to be any editing done with music or scene cuts, first season tracks should have been used and kept that way.

I know that everyone will not understand this, but for those of you who do, I would love to hear some feedback. I have NBC originals and match them up to the syndicated cuts and notice the difference.

I don't recall that. Anyway I loved the use of popular songs in the background of many of the scences in season 1.

Are you talking about the songs at the pit or the transitional themes? I am referring to transitional themes from scene to scene.

Songs at the pit, the dorms, etc., Not the transitional scences, though there is nothing wrong with that.

I liked these intros and exits as well. The ones in season two were really good. Now I have to go home and listen to a few on tape.
