View Full Version : Jem on Adult Swim? Harper49 04-21-2003, 07:34 PM I would like to see JEM on CN's adult swim. Anyone else like to see that? Also would like to mail cartoon network and i'll say "I would like you guys to put JEM on cartoon network's adult swim asap." W.J. Griffin 04-22-2003, 07:34 AM JEM? On Adult Swim? WHY?? There's nothing "adult" about that show....it's strictly from Kidsville, okay? (your private fantasies notwithstanding, of course...) Besides, that show was NEVER cleverly written or targeted toward adult sensiblities, so "Adult Swim" is an inappropriate venue for this cartoon. Maybe you can suggest an " '80s Block" for this and similar themed cartoons. Or maybe a "Toon Music Block", so you can compare it to "Josie and The Pussycats" (a show that WAS cleverly written, by the way...;) ) ClassicTV4Ever 04-26-2003, 05:35 PM Uh, Jem does not belong on Adult Swim. It's very kid-friendly. It's nothing like Futurama or any of those other shows. I do think it should be put back on the air though, but I seriously don't see Cartoon Network bringing it back. I don't see any network bringing it back for that matter. I think the only way people are going to see Jem again is if they buy the two newer released videos from Rhino, get their hands on the old out of print videos, or if the series gets released on DVD. SBTB Geek 04-27-2003, 02:57 AM 11:00- Futurama 11:30- Jem 12:00- Family Guy Notice anything wrong??? "Jem" doesn't fit... LOL. If it ever does air on Cartoon Network, I'm definite that it would air in the regular children schedule. It's a perfect children cartoon, although it occasionaly does have some adult-themed topics. ClassicTV4Ever 04-27-2003, 08:59 PM Originally posted by SBTB Geek It's a perfect children cartoon, although it occasionaly does have some adult-themed topics. I wouldn't really call them topics, I'd say more on the lines of adult situations. The only thing that I see as being really not kid friendly is some of the illegal activities done by Eric Raymond and The Misfits. But that stuff is put in there for effect and most kids overlooked that kind of stuff. Kids knew that Jem & The Holograms were good kind people and Eric Raymond and the Misfits were selfish, rude, and down right bad. The show still managed to send out positive meesages, especially with the "Be a Superstar" segments at the end of some episodes. Jemgirl 05-02-2003, 12:39 AM Jem is my all-time FAVORITE! :D I would love to see her back on the air just about anywhere. I don't think she should be on Adult Swim tho. As others said she would not fit in there. Yes Jem was a "kid" show but I think it was aimed at teenagers also. Some of the plots are a little beyond most kids understanding. A Holographic computer can be confusing. And the love triangles and the Misfits & Stingers are certainly for a bit older audience. I have talked to the show's head writer & Jem's voice actors (Britta Phillips - singing, & Samantha Newark - speaking) and they agree with the age thing. The plots were just great. Hey I am 21 and I STILL watch Jem. :) I even have Jem DVDs! (expertly made by a fellow Jem fan) Nez Rocks!! 05-28-2003, 10:33 PM I don't think that Jem! should be on Adult Swim. I LOVE the show. It was one of my favorites as a little girl, heck I still LOVE the show and I have all 65 episodes. But it does not belong on adult swim. I wish that Cartoon Network, USA or another channel would bring Jem! back. But I don't see that happening any time soon... Get this, I just read on one of the Jem sites (I forget which one though) that VH-1 bought episodes a couple years ago and never even aired any. Shame on them! fhs19922000 08-10-2005, 02:22 PM if you want a cartoon on adult swim, but beavis and butthead on it!!! Harper49 08-10-2005, 02:37 PM Or maybe Daria. badbrainsfan 08-10-2005, 05:23 PM No. There's only one network the she should go to. That is Toon Disney. PrettyinPink55 08-10-2005, 05:26 PM Oh man, I LOVED Jem!!! Harper49 08-10-2005, 05:26 PM Toon Disney... No. TripperFan 08-10-2005, 05:28 PM Toon Disney... No. You just want it off The-N right Harper? ;) I still wish we could find you a transcript of Jem. :( PrettyinPink55 08-10-2005, 08:40 PM Is it on DVD yet? TripperFan 08-10-2005, 09:05 PM Is it on DVD yet? I think so. I ran a google and found what either was a season or a movie - was there a Jem movie? Harper49 08-10-2005, 09:37 PM There wasn't a movie. They've did a 3-part episode called the starbright trilogy. TripperFan 08-10-2005, 09:58 PM Oh thanks Harper! So the DVD I saw must be all 3 episodes. ClassicTV4Ever 08-10-2005, 11:08 PM Is it on DVD yet? Jem - Seasons 1 & 2 and Jem - Season 3 Part 1 came out on DVD last year, but are now both out of print due to Rhino losing the rights to Sony. Hopefully Sony will go ahead and release the final set or re-release the first two sets. ClassicTV4Ever 08-10-2005, 11:14 PM I think so. I ran a google and found what either was a season or a movie - was there a Jem movie? Like I said in my previous post, there were only two DVD's and they were both season sets. A Jem movie was planned but got scrapped once the show was canceled. The closest thing there is to a Jem movie is "The Beginning," which is the origin story. It's basically the first five episodes of the show merged together in movie form. Anyway, what you likely saw was the season sets or one of the many many out of print VHS tapes with randmom episodes. LolaGirl213 08-23-2005, 05:24 PM Jem was my favorite cartoon when I was young musicradio77 09-09-2005, 11:08 PM Jem - Seasons 1 & 2 and Jem - Season 3 Part 1 came out on DVD last year, but are now both out of print due to Rhino losing the rights to Sony. ClassicTV4Ever, I've got to tell you, my uncle taped the show "Jem" 17 years ago when it was on WPIX-TV since it has loads of TV commercials and promos for "The Yogi Bear Show" on WPIX-TV and some reruns of other shows except the commercials that brings back memories. I'm still on vacation in Florida and I finally found it. I would really thank my uncle for that old VHS copy of "Jem". Harper49 11-02-2005, 07:05 PM Will there be a Jem mini-marathon on The N? |
