View Full Version : National Turn Off Your TV Week

Hello friends. TJL here with a friendly reminder.

Tomorrow begins National Turn Off Your Televison Week, where Americans are encouraged to shut of thier Televisions and partake in other activities for seven days.
Might I suggest reading, or exercising, or spending quality time with your loved ones over a game of Monopoly or Scrabble. Perhaps there is a lecture or concert you might want to see. Maybe visit an art gallery.
Hopefully this will be an educational experience for all of us.
I am planning on keeping a journal to record how this week of no TV has clensed my spirit and enriched my soul.

:lookaroun

:rotflmao:

Man, sometimes I crack myself up. Quality time with your loved ones...yeah, riiiiiight!

Heck, I haven't had my t.v. hooked up for months. I need to buy a cable so I can watch Touched By an Angel final episode....

Spending time with my loved ones?? My mother was her usual
testy self today, typical for Easter, but we watched the 60's Batman movie with Adam West...

Count me out, I will be watching the NFL draft and the NASCAR race so, I will not be able to keep the tv off for a whole week, now if it was this past week then i would consider it.

:eek2: No TV? :eek2: I've tried that!

I do have occasional quality time with the family :rotflmao: We did eat Easter dinner together as a family. I would like to do that but, my hubby is a TVholic.

I do take my kids out though. TV is not the end all in my house.

Watching NO Lucy for a week? I tried that once . . . and I failed. I don't suspect I will do any better this time around. Also, I can't miss Survivor: The Amazon. Sorry, maybe NEXT time if there's ever a next time. ;)

Don't forget TJL the kids are off this week for Spring vacation. If the kids don't watch the TV then they'll follow me around the house. Or they'll sing their favorite song. I'm bored, I'm bored, I'm bored...................

NO......................

Ok, so I was watching that like I always do on Monday nights, but did they screw up or something? I was doing an essay and watching at the same time, so didn't see everything. But they showed Mark, Jamie, Antione, Shane, Ruthie, Ellen, Lori, and Melissa. The second commercial came when Genesis was about to go, but when it came back, it went back to the begining when Emily, (Who I hated from day 1), decided she couldn't stay without James and went all the way to when Ruthie was DQed. Then it ended. Did I miss something?!?

I choose not to participate in National TV Turn-Off Week. Nobody tells me when I can watch TV or what I can watch on TV. (Hear that, Parents' Television Council?)

My husband would go nuts without TV with baseball season in full swing.
I rarely watch TV from May on because the Red Sox are on, and we rent movies on weekends. Our shows are in hiatus anyway.
