I actaully find this show funny, and interesting. It's maybe because you are used to extremely childish antics from Even Stevens and Shia LeBeuf

It's one of my favorites!:)

By the way, if you don't like it than why did you come to this board just to trash it?

I'm only a child, I love even stevens, but I love Oliver Beene too!
cbfwebwizard if you don't like the show, mabe you should not come to the message board! [common sense].......I find it funny. Michael is hillarious. Has any one seen the episode where Oliver gets sent to Level 3 or something like that, which is the part of the school with the dumb children? It is one of my favorites. Has anyone seen the episode where Joyce and Oliver's mother begin to hang out? That one was funny. Joyce is not as funny as Oliver, Ted or Michael!

Who does not like Oliver Beene???

Oliver Beane wasn't a bad show, but I don't think FOX really had any hopes that it would become a hit.
For the time it was on, I enjoyed it more than "Malcolm In The Middle" which it got compared to alot.

I liked it, simply because Grant Rosenmeyer lives in my (now-former) hometown in Connecticut. He even attended the same middle school I did. I started watching out of loyalty to a fellow town citizen, and the show grew on me.

One thing I will say about the show is that it had a very talented group of young actors and actresses.

I think I saw it once. It seemed like a stupid show.

Short-Lived Sitcom Potpourri (XIX) (https://jacksonupperco.com/2023/10/11/short-lived-sitcom-potpourri-xix/)

If scripts use the characters but not the setting, they’re not fully fulfilling the premise and thus feel incomplete. And yet, if the setting is made more important than the characters, it looks like idea-driven gimmickry. Unfortunately, I think Oliver Beene (https://web.archive.org/web/20061031125340/http://www.jumptheshark.com/o/oliverbeene.htm), though amusing, has trouble negotiating this balance, especially as it loses the novelty of its era and runs out of ways for it to be meaningfully invoked, leaving stories to feel unmoored from the series’ (https://web.archive.org/web/20140402223206/http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com/topic/3114608-oliver-beene/?view=getnewpost) specific identity.
