I don't remember seeing this episode before but it was fun watching how RH fleshed out the cardboard story of a sweeper being propelled to stardom in a believable way! At first, he was very nervous and wanted to do a straight show but it didn't take too long before he used the DJ props to become a very obnoxious, stereotypical, cartoonish DJ who renamed himself 'Richie the C'! Soon, he blew off his parents then his friends before the Arnold's remote (with all of them rejecting him ) brought him back down to earth with a thud. Without friends or family, dreams were empty for Richie! I can't help but think that RH had lots of fun doing this episode- almost as much as when he did that 'Richie Fonzarelli' impression to try to get the parents of this clingy girl to reject him!

I liked that episode too, but I ended up feeling sorry for Richie. I didn't like the way his friend's were treating him.

I agree that they weren't easy on him but if they hadn't done that at his first big remote gig, he'd have not only chucked their friendships but also his parents' imput on going to college- and may have wound up waking up realizing that his 'Richie the C' persona was bogus, friendless- and without anything to fall back on cos he'd trashed his chance 4 college! As jealous and harsh as Fonz, etc. were, I think they did it to save him from himself!
