So is there a sitcom from the 60's or 70's that you never saw and thatyour local stations didn;t air? treky 04-19-2003, 12:17 AM wel, let's see: "Chico & the man", "Maude" ,"The Flying nun". Then, there"s all the ones that were seen in Philadelphia, Years ago, but haven't been since: McHales navy, Sgt. Bilco, Green Acres, The Beverly Hillbilllies, Peticoat Junction, That Girl,Gomer Pyle-U.S.M.C., Dennis the menace, Hazel, My Favorite Martian *PinkLady* 04-19-2003, 08:03 AM I agree with BJL - too many to mention. Ok-What is the one sitcom that you never had a opportunity to see and it was never showed in your local city. Just ONE! boechsner 04-19-2003, 01:51 PM I live in the country and am able to pick up local stations from Milwaukee, Madison, Green Bay and sometimes Chicago. Thus, I have seen a wide variety of shows over the years, in syndication. There are very few shows that have never been offered (at least in the past 15 years). Limiting it only to Wisconsin the following shows have not aired in syndication in at least 15 years: Chico and the Man (Has aired in Chicago area) Sanford & Son (Has aired in Chicago area) Maude (Has aired in Chicago area) One Day at a Time (Has aired in Chicago area) Good Times (Has aired in Chicago area) That's My Mama (Has aired in Chicago area) S*W*A*T The Rookies Dynasty Dallas Knots Landing Falcon Crest The Doris Day Show The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet Make Room for Daddy (Has aired in the Chicago area) The Flying Nun Family Affair Rhoda Amos 'n' Andy (for the obvious reason) Chad22 04-19-2003, 03:30 PM The Only Sitcoms That DO Air in my area (Besides Cable Stations) Are I Love Lucy and Seinfeld. LucyFan 04-19-2003, 05:36 PM The only classic sitcoms that air in my area are I Love Lucy & The Beverly Hillbillies. The Andy Griffith Show used to air in my local area like two years ago. That's about it besides those three. SBTB Geek 04-19-2003, 05:57 PM L.A. has a huge variety of classic sitcoms/dramas because KDOC is well known for airing them. *PinkLady* 04-19-2003, 09:10 PM Originally posted by SOLOMON Ok-What is the one sitcom that you never had a opportunity to see and it was never showed in your local city. Just ONE! Well, I've never seen Sanford and Son except on TV Land, and I'd like to see it in my area with less editing. Sal 04-19-2003, 09:21 PM It's so hard to name just one because there are so many good shows out there that just never get shown for whatever reasons, and unfortunately, it's usually the older shows who suffer. For example, "Petticoat Junction" went for almost 30 years before being seen in my area. Here's a few others that are still waiting for CTS or PRIME to snap them up: The Donna Reed Show Dobie Gillis Make Room For Daddy Ozzie and Harriet Father Knows Best That Girl Dennis The Menace The Addams Family F Troop Love, American Style Here's Lucy Also, I am still waiting with bated breath for "My Three Sons" and "Green Acres" to come back. treky 04-19-2003, 09:23 PM Originally posted by boechsner I live in the country and am able to pick up local stations from Milwaukee, Madison, Green Bay and sometimes Chicago. I included them on the list on purpose. I am well aware of the Amos 'n' Andy situation. Did you or did you not see the (for the obvious reason) stated after it's name. Who in the heck do you think you are, really? I get so sick of your condescending attitude towards people who don't agree with what you say, how you say it, people who type out of context. You are not a moderator on this board (thank GOD) so if someone else or I see fit to add a note about dramas or anything else we'd feel free to do so. You nag me in posts and then you dont understand why I won't do a tape deal with you. You call a very good friend of mine NAMES, horrible names, in an email and then expect that I'd turn around and trade with you! Posts exactly like this are why I do not want to trade with you - becuase you think you are always right and I CANT STAND THAT. Do not propose to tell me to READ next time. I can read very well thank you. I've been reading since I was 4 years old. You might want to step down off of your self styled pedestal and realize you are a minion on this board just like the rest of us. TVLIFE 04-20-2003, 11:43 AM It is important not to list dramas in this case because : 1. this is a sitcom board 2. The topic is broad enough with just sitcoms, if you include dramas it become too big to handle. 3. It the past 10 years or so most dramas go to cable for syndicated runs, not local stations. So pretty much nothing in the way of dramas airs localy. Also, calm down. This should be a friendly sight for all who love tv to get together and talk about it. If you can't play well with the others then maybe you are not ready to be here yet. Sitcoms that have never aired in my area (Boston) This is going back to the late 1970s as I was too young before that to remember: father knows best chico and the man Amen 227 Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman Rohda there must be more but i can;t think of them. I do think that in the past this area was pretty good at showing old sitcoms. There was always a good variety. It sure isn't like that today. I hope this post was directed at Solomon who continually does this type of thing to posters without any moderated repercussions at all. I've finally used the Ignore User feature! Thank you, Nanny Fine To TVLIFE: I have no problem handling sitcoms and dramas together. Although the original post did emphasize SITCOMS, I thought it was necessary to include DRAMAS as to illustrate the syndication patterns in the Wisconsin area. Which is the original intention of the post. Is it not? And actually, the Wisconsin area has had aired numerous dramas in syndication, including, The Love Boat, Knight Rider, Magnum, P.I., Simon & Simon, Cagney & Lacey, The Rockford Files, The Dukes of Hazzard, Dallas, Fantasy Island, Hotel, Beauty & the Beast, etc. Going right to cable is something rather new that is associated with dramas of the 90's. Fran Fan 04-20-2003, 04:15 PM Another sitcom you never see is "Princesses", a sitcom from 1991 which starred a 'pre-Nanny' Fran Drescher in the role of Melissa Kirshner. I've always wanted to see it because I love how beautiful Fran looks in the show. I think it only lasted three episodes before being canned, although. *PinkLady* 04-20-2003, 08:05 PM Originally posted by Nanny Fine I get along with 99.9% of the posters here except Solomon. I do not wish to get involved in these little fueds. Back to the topic: To the person who said "One Day at a Time" was never on in reruns in there area: That is surprising because in it's day I thought it was a pretty big hit. I can't think of one hit show that never made it to syndicated reruns here (boston). the only ones that didn't come here were some of the smaller shows. Sadly we now have very few "classics" as a matter of fact the only one that is on now is MASH. I remember when the daytime would be littered with old classics. If anyone else is from Mass. do you remember the old channel 27. The show "Mr.Ed", "Green Acres", "Julia", "Father Knows Best" any many more awsome old shows back in the 1980s. YES, L&S was on my local Fox25 about 5 years ago, I simply stated I want it back. As for drama's and sitcoms? Get over it. Yah, if you have a Drama question, take it to the drama board (itd be like taking a Brady Bunch ? to the Taxi board..), but if its included in a general TV question about sitcoms... who cares?!
