Does anyone know if she ever acted in anything else?

according to www.imdb.com (http://www.imdb.com) , Sue Randall [Miss Landers] only has 2 movie credits-- DESK SET (1957), and DATE BAIT (1960). She did have many appearances on television series beginning in 1955, including 3 on BONANZA, and 2 on GUNSMOKE, TWILIGHT ZONE, and THE FUGITIVE. Her last TV credit is on VACATION PLAYHOUSE, 1967. She died of cancer in 1984.

She was awesome on her Twilight Zone appearance. I'd def. recommend the ep for LITB fans.

I've seen her in "Desk Set". I remember seeing that movie for the first time and wasn't sure if it was her or not but sure enough it was. It was cool to see her in color.

I was watching an old 60's movie last week on WE called "The Best of Everything" with Hope Lange and there was an actress in it, Diane Baker, I think her name was and she looked like Miss Landers twin. Does anyone know who i mean?

I know exactly who you mean, and you're right--she resembles Sue Randall so much, they could have played sisters.

Diane Baker was a prevalent guest star on television in the 1960's. One interesting fact, which falls under the category of "Degrees of Separation", as far as LITB is concerned: in August, 1967, Miss Baker appeared in the last two episodes of The Fugitive, which resolved the circumstance of Dr. Richard Kimble, on the run after being falsely convicted of the murder of his wife, Helen.

Miss Baker played "Jean Carlisle", an old friend of the Kimble family. She helps Dr. Kimble run down, finally, the killer of his wife and the plot intimates that she will have a place in his future as his love interest.

That last two-part episode, titled "The Judgement", was one of the rare episodes to include flashback scenes when Helen Kimble was still alive. And the actress who played Helen Kimble in those flashbacks? Diane Brewster.

Diane Brewster, who played Beaver's teacher, Miss Canfield, in the first season of Leave It to Beaver.

And I remember the Fugitive very well. I vaguley remember that last episode, but i do remember there was a woman who was in it who was a friend of the family. I didn't realize it was Diane Baker.

I would normally wish that they would show reruns of the Fugitive, but they did that for awhile when I was a teenager and there was something about knowing how it all ends that took the punch out of the show.

Too bad. It was a great show.

My ex-roommate, who used to do old time radio in Boston, did interviews with the remaining cast members of LITB back in 1984. He later played the interviews over the air on his radio show. I remember him telling me about calling the home of Sue Randall; she was still alive at the time but couldn't do any interviews due to the fact she had throat cancer and could barely speak. She died in October of that year. Richard Deacon (Fred Rutherford) also died in 1984 in August.

As you probably know, The Fugitive was the first series to resolve its premise. That happens all the time now, but then, it was a novel idea. And your complaint about knowing the ending ruining watching the re-runs is exactly the worry the network had when Fugitive creator Roy Huggins wanted to end Dr. Kimble's running.

Of course, it varies for each viewer, but for me, the show was so well written that it maintains its suspense for me, even though I know how it ultimately turns out.

My complaint about the final episode is, as you may recall, Dr. Kimble is pursuing the one-armed man, Fred Johnson, through an abandoned amusement park. Johnson climbs a tower and Kimble goes right up after him! Ultimately, Lieutenant Gerard is forced to shoot Johnson to stop him from killing Kimble.

I saw that episode when it first aired, back in August of '67, and even as a kid, I couldn't figure out why Kimble would follow Johnson up the tower, when he had him trapped there.

And, oh yeah, just to get this thread back on Leave It to Beaver, Diane Brewster, who played the Beaver's first teacher, Miss Canfield, was in that episode. :)

As for Sue Randall, I had know for a long time that she had died relatively young, but it wasn't until a couple of years ago, I took the time to find out that she died of throat cancer. How sad!

Incidentally, Helen Parrish, who was the first actress to play Fred Rutherford's wife on the show, also died of cancer, and within a year of playing that rôle.

Yeah,Miss Landers was a hottie alright. I'll be she used to drive those curmudgeonly old bus drivers insane.

She was quite adorable. Shame she passed at such a young age.

I went through sort of a phase shift over my life in terms of the television "babes" that I found attractive.

Oh, back in the day I pretty much went along the expected lines, thinking Laura Petrie, Ginger, Jeannie, and to a lesser extent Samantha and Ann Marie were the hotties. And of course, there was ALWAYS Ellie May.

But, as I personally got well into middle age, I started noticing my taste shifting more towards Thelma Lou, Miss Landers, and the ultimate babe...June Cleaver..

I think it might have something to do with "the road less traveled".....lol!

The last time I had to drive from LA back to Indiana, I made it a point to follow US 24 from western Colorado all the way back, instead of the interstate.

And it was well worth it. For largely the same reasons.

True. Though Miss Canfield was no slouch either.

The first half of that two hour “Fugitive” finale is pitch perfect. Gerard captures Kimble at the end of the first hour. Then it kind of falls apart in the second half, what with the tower scene and the convenient, out-of-nowhere witness.

I had the final 2 episodes on VHS, and the way Kimble just keeps punching Sykes repeating "You killed her, didn't you?" Made for a very rewarding closure.

Oh that is too bad. So many seem to not be able to keep it between the lines after a few years in Hollywood.

I'm curious, what is your source for this?

I was under the impression Miss Landers was phased out because Beaver had her as a teacher for 3 years, and he was going into what would be middle school now (5th season).

I have never heard any stories of Sue Randall being unreliable on the set.
