View Full Version : I'm sick
Nanny Fine 04-17-2003, 10:52 PM and I feel like crap.
I hate this in between weather crap. I managed to get through the ENTIRE WINTER and never caught a cold OR the flu. Minor annoyances here or there but nothing bad. So for the last 4 days we've had 80 degree weather, following FREEZING weather and I am sick as a freaking dog. Head cold, congestion, coughing, sneezing, achey - I feel like I've been hit by a train. It hurts my neck to sit up but when I lay down I can't breathe. Medicine isn't helping and I am miserable.
I've got the next near week off from work for spring break vacation...and I dont want to spend it sick. :(
THIS SUCKS.
Spring colds suck.
Weird weather sucks.

Ravey 04-17-2003, 11:29 PM I'm sory that your sick. :( Being sick sucks!
Fleet 04-18-2003, 12:30 AM To knock out a cold, I increase my vitamin C intake... 500 mg four or more times a day. Also, Zinc lozenges every 2 hours. It's helped me many times. I still get sick sometimes, but it's over in about 2 days. Also, I don't get that sick... not to the point where I have that "blah" feeling- don't want to get up at all. In fact, even when sick, I find myself sometimes running up the stairs to get to the second story of my house.
BTW, for me, the worst part of being sick is having a sore throat. I do everything I can to get rid of it- honey, lemon juice, gargling w/salt water, etc.( What works best for me is honey and salt water.)
Jersey Girl 04-18-2003, 12:33 AM Also, doesn't echinasia (sp?) strengthen the immune system?
Nanny Fine 04-18-2003, 01:22 AM I've been drinking honey and lemon tea all dang night (and running to the bathroom every 20 minutes). I tried to lay down too but I can't, I can't sleep because my head is so congested. This is horrible. I want to enjoy my vacation, not spend it suffering from a cold!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyhow, I know how you feel. I've been having allergies from the change in weather and here where I live, Spring is essentially almost skipped over to go right into Summer but this year it's been unusually cold and windy... so far.
Seriously, what I do when I'm sick is buy one of those big bottles of Nyquil or the generic equivalent of it. I have problems with medicine generally working right when I'm sick but Nyquil always seems to do the trick and come through. Sure, you'll be drowsey but it really numbs the cold and any aches or pains you might have. So, go out, buy some of that sleepy anti-cold magic they call Nyquil, lie back and pull up a pillow, relax and watch some of The Nanny. :)

I can sympathize with you...I've felt like crap for most of this week. I'm better today, but I still want to just sleep and sleep.
