Ewan's My Man 04-17-2003, 09:40 PM Ok...guyz...I need an opinion...
I got this from ebay today:
"The following listing:

was removed by eBay because a member of our Verified Right Owner (VeRO) Program notified eBay that the listing potentially infringes its copyright, trademark or other rights. We strongly urge you not to complete this transaction.
You can get more information on the VeRO Program at:

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in this issue.

Now...I talked to the person I bought it from, they have 100% positive feedback all that good stuff...so I mean...I trust them. I paid with check so I could cancel it if I need too...I don't even kno if the person is still gonna send it...in case they got an e-mail like that also. But what would you all recommend?
Brian 04-17-2003, 09:46 PM I'd cancel the check ASAP. If they strongly suggest that you not complete the transaction, then don't do it.
F*O*L 1988 04-17-2003, 09:50 PM I'm sorry. I don't know what to say, because I've never been in this situation before. I guess I'd cancel my order and not take any chances.
I mean, the seller may have gotten great reviews, but this particular item may be iffy.
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 04-17-2003, 10:11 PM If you were to get the DVD I myself would keep it lol, but if you just sent out the $$$... then you should just cancel.
Ewan's My Man 04-17-2003, 10:15 PM Thanks guyz!!
Even tho you all advised me not to buy it...I still am...eek. I'm only 13...what's the worst they could do?? I'm only doing it b/c it's only illegal since it's not out yet, and she's sold them to other people before.
Just thought I'd share...come visit me in jail!
Nanny Fine 04-17-2003, 10:37 PM If you are only 13 how are you even allowed to be buying anything on eBay?

I think it is just ebay notifying you that this DVD will be bootleg. Honestly, I'd just go ahead in buy it. The government's got better things to do than track down bootleg copies of a movie. You could buy the same bootleg on the streets of NYC anyway.

I know you weren't asking me, but I think I registered on ebay when I was 15 or either 16. I used my dad's email and his name and I took care of it mostly. I always emailed the seller (I never sell on there) immediately after the auction ends. Promptly buy the money order the next day after receiving the seller's mailing address and get the payment out the very next day. I never went on a wild spending spree, eh, let me rephrase that. I never went on a spending spree if I didn't have the cash to pay for my purchases. When I have extra cash, I do go on the spending sprees. I know that has to be a pain in the ass. Someone wins your auction and then you get an email saying 'Well, I know I won your auction, but I don't really want the item now.'
Anyway, I wouldn't go through the transaction either. If you got an email like that, it just sounds too risky, imo.
GrapeJelly 04-18-2003, 02:53 AM Weird timing. The same exact thing happened to me today. I bid on something, the auction ended normally and everything when I suddenly got an email from ebay saying that the auction was null and void and they advise I not complete the transaction....except I had already paid via paypal so the seller had my money already. I can only hope they will be honest to go ahead and send my item since I don't have feedback or ebay as a safety net anymore. I can understand ebay shutting down an auction while it's still active, but when they shut it down after it's already ended it kinda leaves the buyer hanging by a string if they've already paid. Wish me luck, please!
Hollow 04-18-2003, 03:13 AM i got kicked offa ebay cuz i always bidded on stuff and forgot about em and those ******* wouldnt email me or nuttin so it aint my fault

You are the kind of buyer that I, a regular eBay seller, HATE. I'm a single parent and I sell on eBay as a means to try and just get by from paycheck to paycheck (and it still doesn't usually work). You bid and forget? Don't check your email? Do you know how many excuses we (sellers) get? It's not your fault? Both parties are responsible for contacting each other about the end of the auction.
I also find your vernacular about "those" >>>>> to be extremely and highly offensive.

The only thing I can think of as to why they would have done that is if the auction was some sort of dutch or multiple item auction. There would still be current auctions even though yours was completed so they would have ended everything, including yours.
Have you heard from the seller yet?
JoJoJoJoJoJoJoJoJo 04-18-2003, 11:12 AM well, you ain't gonna go to jail. Hope the DVD turns out to be good quality though

It was a dutch auction, but I was the last one to get in on it and the auction ended right after I bid as there were no more sets available. I emailed the seller to ask when the item would ship and they responded quickly so hopefully it will pan out. Only time will tell.

webuster 04-18-2003, 04:29 PM Right, if this DVD is a copy, then it isn't going to have all these special features the official release will have. So, why can't you just buy it off the street somewhere? At least it's harder to be caught as a buyer, through ebay, if the sellers caught, so's the buyer. I got a copy of Chicago as well, good quality but I just bought it witohut the use of a computer. By the way, cos you're underage for ebay, and probably filled in and pretended to be parents or something, the adult whose name you used will go down for it if you screw it up.

Ok...I only partially understood that.
I used my name...just said I was 18. They'll actually never know whether I finished it or not. They sent the e-mail and I could have just contacted the seller myself and stopped the transaction...they neeeeeeeever haveta know *laughs evilly*
