I made a post on this a while back but I thought I'd post another.

some general things i've run into while trading that I thought others might be able to add to.

Don't send trades on used tapes. Buy new tapes for goodness sake!

If someone asks you to be patient, for a legit reason, dont' hammer them with emails asking what's going on. If everyone was as patient as mashunter (and that good of a trader!) we'd be all in good shape :)

Dont write on the labels that are included. Use a post it note, a piece of paper and try and indicate what episodes are on the tape if possible. If you dont know that's one thing, but if you are only sending 4 or 5 episodes it's a huge help to know what ep's they are.

Dont send an email to someone calling them names like ****** and *****le! I can't even express how unbelievably rude that is and I would be mortified to have my name connected as the "sender" of an email like that.

Use Delivery Confirmation, even if you only send Media Mail. It's a lifesaver!!!

you also left out that people are not supposed to charge 27.00 for one episode. Just felt the people on here should understand that's a horrible price.

You guys just about covered it.

And yeah, mashunter is VERY patient. He had two tapes for me, I guess for a few weeks now, and he pretty much just told me to take my time on getting him the tapes. Other people usually just hammer away until you get so annoyed you stop everything else and make the tape. Luckilly, most people I've traded with have been pretty patient.

Weekends are, truthfully, the only time I can copy tapes and really focus on that. I'm just so short on time, and with all I tape for myself, it doesn't leave a heckuva lot of time for trades anymore.

I really can't think of what else to add. And I DEFINITELY agree about adding a piece of paper with what is on a tape. That is a total help.

I agree with Solomon too. Do NOT charge an absurd amount of money for just one episode. I never charge more than $4 or $5 for a TAPE. That is IF someone would rather buy (I'd prefer to trade and not even exchange cash), It just covers the cost of the tape, and sending the tape.

dont forget the most important part of tape trading! if i have to record a show that i cant stand for somebody - for example, oh i dont know, GREEN ACRES, I put an evil curse on the tapes before i ship them <G>

im not sure if the curse works yet, everybody i trade with dies before i can ask them about it. hey junkie, i think ill send you some tapes this week. MWA HAH HAH HAH<G>

lol.........Actually I knew you were in no hurry for those episodes, you still got a ways to go for that show:D :D
When I switched computers and lost everyone's email address I was to lazy to find yours on the forums:lol:

Your fine to Jamie,I know some of those episodes I want from you are all over on different tapes, takes time to find them all,I know the feeling.:D

Really to me in general,as long as you maintain contact,if it takes longer then you hope, you have nothing to worry about,it's when people dissappear for "weeks" at a time,I mean everyone has to have a life besides taping shows, and stuff is gonna come up,where getting on the computer is your last priority.

lmao! I knew your post would be for me ;)

I'm really going to get a tape done for you this week. I'm finally able to organize everything and get a taping schedule going.

Matt,
Yeah. I'm in no hurry either, but since you have the tapes done, I figured I could do yours too. The Facts of Life eps aren't that hard to track down (like you said for Jamie, eps are on different tapes, etc) so it shouldn't take all that long.

Hey, if that's how you want to spend your final minutes - making tapes for me <G>
I should have a fifth tape done this week, btw, and someone mailed me a box just the right size it seems - so youy're in luck!

lol.

I have a few underdog eps on a tape, and I'll just finish it off with Tennessee Tuxedo. I missed it already today, lol, but it repeats again later tonight.

I am continually amazed at how honest most people are. Even when trading with people I've met over eBay I have not been burned by one of them. Of course, I am fairly efficient at checking out their feedback rating, which is revealing and a good idea all around.

I think it is ultimately most important to be honest in our dealings when trading on this board. Of course, what goes around comes around (eventually), but that goes for good deeds too. :D

Yeah, ive met some really cool people over the years. Ive been ripped off a couple times, which is pretty bad since i dont trade much at all. <G> One of my first tape trades ever was with a woman I met on ebay. I had been looking for someone in Los Angeles with KDOC channel for about 2 years, and when i started selling on ebay, the first 4 customers i had were ALL from Los Angeles! I'm really lucky because almost everyone I've ever traded with or made stuff for, I'm still in contact with (except the ones who died because their tapes were cursed) .We have a lot of fun and chat sometimes, and share our collections.

A secret hint towards me (and others?) ;) lol

Blame Boomerang for their never ending schedule changes. And my lazyness at times... :D
