LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - After being pursued by several studios, "Frasier" writer Saladin Patterson has signed a two-year deal with 20th Century Fox TV.

Patterson has worked on the NBC comedy for the past three seasons as a writer and producer. After seeing his work on the show, as well as feature-film scripts he's written, 20th decided it wanted him on its team.

"He can write big broad comedy, he can write the more sophisticated humor of 'Frasier,' and in his screenplays, you can see a lot in between," 20th TV President Dana Walden tells The Hollywood Reporter. "We think he's got a really fresh young distinct voice."

Patterson will work on one of the studio's existing comedy series, which include "Yes, Dear," "The Bernie Mac Show" and "Still Standing," and also develop new projects.

Patterson's credits also include "The PJs" and the feature film "The Fighting Temptations," scheduled for release this summer.
