What is your favorite season? Mine is either 3 or 4. I voted for 4 though.

Your poll wouldn't let me vote for some reason. I know a lot of people would disagree with me, but I really liked the last season. I liked Darlene's pregnancy, and thought Leon and his 'husband' (or wife, however they worked it out lol) were so funny. And even though the ending was a total shocker, and I was a bit confused (until I found this site, and it explained it all to me) I thought it was a brilliant way to end it. So different from the norm. The only part in the last season I didn't like was when Rosy and Jackie go to New York. That was kinda boring. And the whole dream thing with some cult taking Darlene's baby...that was weird. But the whole series was terrific. Roseanne is the funniest person ever :)

My favorite season would have to be either season 2 or season 3. My favorite episodes in season 2 would have to be Inherit the Wind, An Officer and A Gentleman, and the office episode(I forget whats its called). For season 3 my favorites would be The Test, Do You Where Your Parents Are, and Her Boyfriend's Back.

I am going to agree with you BIG time! I love the last season with Darlene pregnant and all. I wish they would make another season. like "The Connor's after 5 years" to see where Darlene, David, and Harris are. That would be my dream come true.

that would be awesome :) someone should write sarah gilbert and suggest a spin off...maybe have cameo appearances by Roseanne. I hate when all the good shows end.

Things that make you go hmmmmmm.......

My favs aare seasons 4-6, when the show hit its peak. It was good before, but it really hit its stride through these seasons. In season one (Grade: B), the writers still didn't have a good feel for the characters, season 2 (B+) was good, three was better, (A-),
four and five (A) were excellent, as was six, seven (A-) had a great beginning, but kind of slouched, season 8 (B-) was the WORST, while season 9 gets an A- for comedy and originality, but a C for being consistant with the series.

I would have to say seasons 1-6 were the best. After that the show kinda got weird but still good.

i agree with you i liked the last season too. but i really loved every season though so i didnt vote.

the last season was utterly confusing to me when I saw it the first time around, but makes perfect sense now. All throughout the 9th season, the show was actually throwing out clues that it was all a dream. In one episode, while Roseanne is feeding Jerry, she says "Can you believe all that's happebed lately? It's like some crazy lady thought the whole thing up." And that was very early in the season.

The low point was the Prince of whatever falling for Jackie. This, combined with the utter annoyingness of Laurie Metcalfe during the 9th season, was enough to make anybody wretch.

Looking back at the 9th season, it was all really a metafore for Roseanne (the actresses) life after she "won the lottery" (got a tv show). The episode with Jackie wreslting? Though poorly done, it was Roseanne and Tom mud wrestling all over again. The episode where they want to make a tv movie of her life? How many tv movies were done about Roseanne? Even the "Roseambo" episode was her way of syaing that she was a warrior. She rips the tape off the woman's mouth, like she "ripped" the tape of the mouths of tv women a decade earlier. When the woman then starts speaking gibberish- that was Roseanne's way of saying that after the tape comes off, you get good, but alot of people who have no clue.

Though sometimes poorly written and out of line with the series, the 9th season was one of the most insightful but missunderstood works of tv ever.

In one episode, while Roseanne is feeding Jerry, she says "Can you believe all that's happened lately? It's like some crazy lady thought the whole thing up."

I can't believe she said that, lol. that's cool.

My favorite is definitely season 1, but I also really like seasons 2-5. Season 6 is when I think it started getting too weird. But I think the show had most of its charm in season 1.

I liked 3-7 the best, especially 4, 5, and 6. The 1st and 2nd and 8th and 9th weren't that great. I voted for 5.

I agree 100%. I have to admit that the season 1 episodes are boring me right now. I didn't like season 2 too much until towards the end of the season, then it's when Roseanne really became a classic show, and it stayed that way through season 7. I wasn't nuts about season 8 and 9, but in retrospect, they look much better now than they did in 1996.

Season 9. It was much more... different. It really stood out. And I like the Conners rich. The end was creative and so many things you didn't expect to happen happend in this season. Out of 5 stars, I'd rate the seasons like this.

Season 3 is by far the best, it's becky and mark heavy and they are the best 2 characters. (When becky was smart mothed and before mark got dumb anyway)

I think the very middle of the show (seasons 4-6) were when it really reached it's stride. I know the first 2 seasons were quite popular, but I never was so crazy about the early seasons. It was funny and all, but I don't think the show really took off into greatness until around season 3

I liked the season five because there was lots of episodes about Darlene and she hadn't yet left for college. I also like the theme song from here on.

Buffyslayer79- I almost completely agree with you. Except I'd switch the grades for the first and second season and the 8th and 9th.

IMHO, the 8th was the worst season because the writers seemed to be running on empty. At least int he 9th season, there was alot of stuff we'd never seen before, even if alot fo it was badly executed.

I like the 2nd season because the first season everyone was just getting know each other and all that and I also like it because Lecy is at her best in this season. Season 4 and 5 are a tie in 2nd place for me cause theyre both so great. Season 6 was ok , same with 8. But I don't like season 7 and 9. In season 8 I only like watching the last 3 episodes and the first couple in the beginning. I also like the one where Becky wants to go back to college and Mark gets mad at her. What happened after that BTW? Did they make up in the next ep?

i voted for season seven, but i also really liked 5-8. Leon's spouce was hilarious in season 9 tho, lol

What I have observed is that the majority of Roseanne fans fall into three categories:

The ones who like the early traditional episodes (seasons 1-4) that focus specifically on the Connor immediate family and once in a while the plot may be about Crystal and Jackie but in almost every show all the members of the Connor household are in it. These are the pre Lanford Lunchbox years and the pre plastic surgery years where Roseanne has all these demeaning, crappy jobs and her quality of life is probably the lowest compared to the following 5 years.

The ones who like the later, more "wacky" episodes (seasons 5-8) that have a lot of influence from characters outside of the original Connor household (David, Mark, Nancy, Bev, Leon).
These are the Lanford lunchbox years and the post plastic surgery years where Roseanne actually becomes somewhat nice to look at. There is a good percentage of shows that don't even show Darlene or Becky (even after she came back in Season 6). Now often times there are fans of the later years who dislike season 8 because they see it as the start of Roseanne's downfall, however all in all they prefer the later years (minus season 9) compared to the early years.

Then there are the fans that feel the show peaked in the middle and then died at the end. Usually they consider seasons 3-6 the best seasons of the show's run.

These are the 3 basic groups that I would most Roseane fans in, although sometimes you get variations of these three. Then there are the fans who may fall are in the strict minority but still a very vocal group who love season 9 (usually combined with one of three groups above). This is a different class all together because its almost to the point of a totally different show (they are rich, little of Dan, very little of Becky, Jackie is neuratic/wacky, Bev turns gay, Leon and Scott are very prevelant, etc. etc.)

Season 9 was my favorite. It was starting to get really interesting with all of Roseanne`s daydreams(not that it wasn`t interesting b4). The series never should of ended that quick. I want to see the last 2 eps, damn NICK AT NITE!!!

Yeah, I looked it up on TVTome. Critics don`t know what they are talking about.

It's a toss up between season 5 & 6. I think I will go with season 6 as my vote because Sarah C. came onboard that year:happyface

mine are 1,4,5,6,7,8,9 but I voted for 6. I liked Sarah Chalke also

Season 6 becuase that's when Sarah Chalke played Becky for the first time

My favorite was definitely season nine because if its originality, creativity, and divresity from the other seasons. AS for the ratings in season nine, you'll see:

I'm surprised season 1 gets the most votes because usually seasons 5 and 6 are the ones most fans I know like the best.

Roseanne is a show that I personally enjoy all 9 seasons. They all are good in their own way, but 1, 2 and 7 are the ones I like least, but I still like them.

How much my opinion has changed in 2 years.
