~LadyJess~ 04-13-2003, 12:02 AM Well being from Detroit, I'm rooting for the Wings even though they are down 2 in the series against Anahiem. I'm not a big hockey fan though, I only watch during the playoffs, but people live and die with the Wings around here so they better shape up pretty fast.
brownsocks 04-17-2003, 09:08 PM well detroite went out last night in a 4 game sweep by the mighty ducks. that is just pityful;)
I am a fan of "Canada's Team", the Toronto Maple Leafs. Right now, they look to be in big trouble against the Philadelphia Flyers but I believe that the Boys In Blue can bounce back Monday night in front of the home crowd and send the series back to the good old FU Centre in Philthy-delphia, PA. When that happens, I expect the Flyers will be shaking in their skates big time! Tie Domi will destroy Donald Brashear and the Leafs will be so inspired that victory will be inevitable!

I wanted the Maple leafs to win Game 4 so badly when they were up 2-1 in the series and playing in triple overtime. I really felt they needed to win game 4 to win this series because I'm sure the Flyers will win tomorrow night. I don't want the Flyers to win but usually when team wins two games in a row in a 7 game series, that just about does it. The Flyers defintely have the confidence and momentum right now.
Solomon, what's the mood like in Philadelphia today? The rink was a madhouse last night and the fans could sense that this series is almost over. The Leafs look like a tired and beaten team yet I've learned from experience never to count them out until the final whistle. You're right, those 2 long double OT games back in Toronto wore them down and it was very noticeable yesterday afternoon.
Without a doubt, Philly has been the better team so far, but, in the playoffs, the better team doesn't always win. Just ask Detroit!!! (I am so thrilled they're gone. You have no idea.)

Well the mood of this city is always overexcited after a win. People needs to wait until the series is over before getting overexcited. The media in this city gets more excited than the fans.
brownsocks 04-20-2003, 07:48 PM i hate the leafs. all my friends and their families love them but i hate them. so i spend the days that the leafs win in hiding but when they lose i come out in force:D
britt britt 04-20-2003, 08:54 PM I'm hoping for the Leafs, they are my favorite. I think they will win Mondays game. The Leafs are playing bad because everyone is hurt :( They are a whole lot better than those golfers. :)

I hope the Leafs win on monday too but it's not often a team comes back in a 7 game series after losing 2 games in a row this late in the series.

Looks like the Leafs never left toronto-LOL. They are getting hammered 5-1. Horrible performance for a Game 7-disgrace

brownsocks 05-03-2003, 09:39 PM who does everyone think will win now that it is getting closer to the third round? oh and is tampa out i missed the end of the game last night
This piece in yesterday's Toronto Sun by columnist Steve Simmons should tell you all you need to know about this year's playoffs better than anything I can say:
By STEVE SIMMONS -- Toronto Sun
The great Stanley Cup playoff dilemma: Can you remain awake long enough in regulation time because the hockey is so slow in order to be awake for the perfunctory three overtime periods?
That is the question. And that is what's terribly wrong with this year's playoffs.
Never mind that the Detroit Red Wings, Colorado Avalanche and the Maple Leafs are out. Never mind that there isn't a series anywhere that is grabbing somebody and dragging them along.
The drama in overtime is fine: The hockey itself stinks.
You want to truly interrogate someone: Make them watch game after game of the New Jersey Devils. After a while, they'll confess to just about anything.
Except a willingness to watch anymore.
And, to think, some people think baseball is slow.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nothing more to say there except that I agree 100% with the above statements. For those who are still interested, the Devils eliminated Tampa Bay and are now waiting for their next opponent. The other series can all end tonight, although you can probably expect at least one of them, likely Ottawa/Philly to go to a Game 7.
brownsocks 05-05-2003, 04:58 PM i know the games really suck lately it is pissing me off none of the good teams are in cept jersy and ottawa!!! what the hell the mighty ducks i mean come on
