Hope you don't mind, TALLguyinKY. I'm going to use one of your swell quotes. :)

According to Vicki's book, the first thing producer Joe Hamilton did in getting MF ready for syndication was to lose the kids. But to keep young people interested, he hired Alan Kayser as Bubba. :)

A couple of us were curious a while ago, and TALLguyinKY helped out with that answer.

I agree, it really stunk the show never mentioned why they left. In the episode with Fran's Funeral, all Thelma says is "No Buzz and Sonya." as she was upset they wouldn't be at the funeral. I guess we are suppose to assume they were old enough to just live on their own. I think it's currupt that they were NEVER mentioned again on the show. I think we were suppose to forget Vint ever had kids, because clearly there was to be no more about them. Fudge.

Personally I liked Buzz and Sonya better than Bubba. BUT... big big BUT... that is probably because I liked the NBC years better anyhow. Wouldn't it have been a trip if Buzz, Sonya, AND Bubba all lived there. I am one that would have liked to see that!

I would of loved to see that 2 you would of thought that a couple explaintions would of been good i would of loved to see them all live there 2 with mama and having mama cotrol all 4 of them and stuff that would of been awesome. that sonja was pretty cute girl also noticed they kept messing with her hair and stuff sometimes they kept messing it up and stuff she is pretty though i think they could of lasted longer

I agree that it would have been awesome to see them. It was just too much, the show getting rid of so many from the NBC years. I hated that they killed off Fran. Let the lady move away instead. And of course, Ellen wasn't going to be on (although she returned one last time), no more Eunice, and then they allow that awful neighbor, Iola. I don't dislike her so much that I can't stand to watch her, but wow... she bugs me.

It would have been nice to see the kids. The syndicated years just seemed so detached from the NBC ones. It was all very different, including personality changes. But I won't get into that.

I noticed they changed Sonya's style around too. I sort of wondered why. Also, it's hard to notice, because she didn't have tons of lines, but her personality changed a tad too. But, it didn't bother me at all. Unlike other very detectable personality changes from NBS to Syndication.

I've always liked Iola. But, oh well. I too, think, that Buzz and Sonja were old enough to go off on they're own, maybe even to college. I agree that it would've been nice for them to at least mention what happened to them. Like someone else said, all that was said was at Fran's funeral, Mama said "No Buzz and Sonja, no Ed & Eunice..."

Yeah, since it is realistic that they were of the age to move away and go to college, the least that could have been done was to mention them here and there. Afterall, they are Vinton's kids! I think it helped the viewers (helped me anyways) to hear Eunice at least be mentioned here and there--her moving to Tallahessee, and her talking to Thelma on the phone about not wanting Bubba to move down there.

Of course I could stop being biased and actually complain about the NBC years and say it was weird that Bubba was never mentioned then. Afterall, he is Eunice's kid, just like Buzz and Sonya are Vint's kids! But then, Eunice wasn't on a lot, and perhaps having a son in juvenile hall is so darn disgraceful, no one wanted to bring him up. :)

And don't get me wrong (although that is easy to do since I do the "vagueness routine" all the time!), Iola bugged me, but her character was what the show needed since the direction changed from NBC to syndication. She annoys me in a pleasant way, if that even makes since! She was well cast. :)

Well, when they killed off Aunt Fran, I was just so SAD at the beginnin' of the show when it was revealed, but Cashodeen---OMG---it did make for a hiLARious episode!!

:rotflmao:

It is definitely in my Top 10!!

And man, Sonja went through more than just a "tad" change---it was more like she went from a lazy, slothful, ungrateful teenager to a responsible, well-mannered freakin' beauty queen!! Lol Very interesting! And ol' Buzz just stayed the same, lol.

And hey, feel free to use any o' muh MF or GG quotes anytime! :)

LOL, okay, I agree more than a tad change too. I didn't want to be too big of a nitpicker. You summed up Sonya very well. Definitely another steal worthy quote in the future, if we ever bring the subject up again. ;)

That Fran Funeral episode was humorous I suppose. It's rare I think such an episode can truly get away with it.

yeah i know she did go through a big change for a while but she did have nice pretty Black hair though that was the best part of her and her pretty body!
