View Full Version : Contradictions of NewsRadio
Adamantium 04-10-2003, 09:58 PM One I can remember is Matthew's birthday. In "Injury" he said his birthdate was 12/21/65. However, in the fourth season, episode 69. "Beep, Beep" his birthday was not in December. It was whenever that episode aired.
Catherine had a birthday in episode 02. "Inappropriate." However, in the next season, just like ten episodes later, in "The Breakup" she's having another birthday. They didn't even wait a year.
Anymore?
Chocoholic 04-10-2003, 10:28 PM In the episode when Joe's brothers are visiting him, he mentions their parents' 35th wedding anniversary (or whatever the number was) is coming up. However, in "Bill Moves On", he mentioned that he just met his new stepfather.
Adamantium 04-13-2003, 02:02 PM The whole Joe-Jimmy schooling thing. In season one, they both mentioned going to college and not graduating. Then in the third season, Joe and Jimmy were both high school drop outs.
One more thing. I know it was just a joke, but it kind of bugs me. In the pilot episode Dave says the "D" word. Jimmy says, "That kind of language doesn't fly with with." Then Dave apologizes. But it seems like throughout the run of the show, Jimmy seems to be the biggest foul-mouthed character at the station.
Adamantium 04-16-2003, 11:37 PM Ooh, another one!
In a season four episode, Lisa was just dumped by Dave. She turns to Bill for some friendly advice, and he tells her he's never been dumped. Whereas in season two, Bill mentions being dumped by Linda.
Jimmy mentions to Matthew that he got fired from his first job. Yet in the episode where Matthew is fired from WYNX, Jimmy begins to say that he has never been fired.
whipwarrior 04-21-2003, 10:04 PM In 'Christmas', after Jimmy buys everyone a Miata, Beth sings: "I don't have a TV, but I have a caaar!", then in 'Balloon', Beth tells Dave that she's going home to watch the news report on TV, but for Dave to call her if anything happens before then.
This discrepancy has always bugged me, but it can be assumed that between 'Christmas' and 'Balloon', Beth saved enough money to buy herself a television set. However, in my NewsRadio stories, I mentioned that Beth didn't have a TV, because I prefer it better that way (no distractions for a pale, friendless- well, I can't really say that Beth is a virgin, can I?- You get the idea.)

Tom P. Baxter 03-08-2004, 09:54 PM hey i just got one and so i revived this thread, esp since i just joined and it doesnt seem like a very active board.. but it sounds like it used to be
anyways, in "sleeping"[321] dave and lisa meet mr james's lawyer, and it isnt Roger (Norm Macdonald)! roger was in 2 episodes, "injury" and "complaint box"[314]
dunno if that counts, but i think he did a really good job and i think he was the funniest weekend update anchor
also realized something weird, in "our fiftieth episode" during the credits, mr james is on the radio with the same stiff perfomance as the one in "planbee" when he was being filmed... so he's shy in those situations.. but apparently he doesn't mind talking to the press ("ballon" & "super karate monkey deathcar")
whipwarrior 03-15-2004, 08:07 PM I, too, have noticed Jimmy's on-again off-again fear of public speaking. He didn't seem to have a problem sitting onstage before a theater full of strangers for his going away party in the 5th season episode, Retirement. Likewise, at President Clinton's fundraiser, where he sat beside Hillary onstage while the pres conducted a speech (can't recall the name of the episode offhand, though).

P.S.- If I've counted correctly, they DID use that Roger lookalike on two separate occasions when Norm MacDonald wasn't available to do the show.
