View Full Version : Characters who disappeared without a trace
These characters just didn't work out, by that I mean they were either regulars & dropped w.out a trace or they were intended to be a regular at some time but it didn't happen for one reason or another.
Chuck, the older brother (Happy Days)
Judy(?), the younger sister (Family Matters)
Carrie's sister (King of Queens)
Walt (NewsRadio) - It clearly looked like they were grooming him to be a regular at the end of season 4, but then Phil died & Walt was never seen again.
Tia Carrerre (A-Team) On the season 4 finale she played the daughter of General Fulbright and it was intended that she'd become a regular, but she was under contract by Aaron Spelling under the time so it didn't happen.

He did. He officially left at the start of the last season.
Since I can't think of any other characters at the moment, I'll mention another one from Step By Step. Does anyone remember some guy named Flash? He was awful. It looked like they were going to have him as a regular to sort of replace Cody. It never happened.

Now I have one. It's lame, but he did just disppear without an explanation. Tiger from The Brady Bunch.
Sitcomwriter 04-10-2003, 10:39 PM Speedy the dog on "The Drew Carey Show"
Larry Romano's character (Tony?) on "The King of Queens"
James 04-11-2003, 02:17 AM Madeline Adams and Becky Slater on The Wonder Years were two I thought of for this category.
Also, how about Sonny St. Jacques (played by Ed Marinaro) on the 1980-1981 season (first in California) on Laverne and Shirley? When I saw him I thought he'd make a good regular character as their landlord.
kizatie11 04-11-2003, 05:28 PM Tory - Saved By the Bell
°Bubbly Blonde° 04-11-2003, 05:51 PM Lana from 3s Company

The Petries neighbors Fred & Dottie and their daughter Ellen on "The Dick Van Dyke show"-they were in the first episode, but then just dissapeared.
LucyFan 04-12-2003, 03:05 AM The Littlefields from I Love Lucy. There made two episode appearances and just disappeared.
Harry Conners from The Lucy Show. We see him in a handful of first season episodes, but he disappears soon after the 22nd episode without any reason.
peter may 04-12-2003, 07:00 AM Holly and Anita from "Ellen"

Of course (as already mentioned)the infamous Chuck - Happy Days and the little sister on Family Matters. Poor kids were unwanted and got adopted out I guess!:(
roses714 04-12-2003, 11:10 AM Yes, Electra Woman! I had completely forgotten---when I finally remembered Dyna-something I thought I was on to it. The twin must have appeared on an episode or two though, because that was my first realization of her having a twin. I watched Days off and on for years and recall the evil twin thing, but I believe that was in the 80s, not quite so long ago---but time does start flying after---a certain age! Thanks, I would have never remembered, nor probably gotten around to researching it.

It could have been very early eighties but I watched Days religously all through the 70's. I really think it was the late 70's when the twin was on there! I quit watching Days in the early 80's because it got so far away from the original premise and characters. I'm sure the twin was in the 70's right after the Marlena character was introduced. But I won't bet my life on it!

Yes, Lana. You know that over at the Lana thread, someone actually acused you and me of being the same person because we thought that was a good explanation.
I always thought the writers wanted us to assume Chirssy didn't leave "without a trace" but intead, assume she decided to live closer to her parents. I thought it was a pretty stupid departure though. Cindy moves in to take Chrissy's place 'temporarily,' as Janet said. Then there is no more heard about Chrissy ever coming back--just more stupid phone tags.

I thought of another character from a different show. He wasn't exactly a regular, or ever intended to be one, but he left with no explanation so it bugged me. Theo's friend Cockroach, from the Cosby Show.

I think i can explain cockroach depature- Theo was so mad at cockroach for deciding to go on Dance Mania and leaving him out. So Theo just felt it was no need to talk to cockroach anymore because a friend would have never done what cockroach did. By the way, The episode Dance Mania was the last appearance of the cockroach character-LOL.
Cashodeen 04-12-2003, 09:52 PM That's right--Dance Mania was the last time Cockroach was ever on the show! Hmm, I'll have to think about that one. I thought since Clair straightened Theo out about treating everyone like dirt, he would have come to his senses and patched things up with Cockroach. If Theo was going to hold that kind of grudge, he's a real jerk- - -. Lol.

tesiay 04-13-2003, 02:33 AM Some shows axed many cast members such as Facts of Life and Mork and Mindy. I was sad to see Joe leave on Rhoda and Susan on Perfect Strangers.
roses714 04-13-2003, 09:11 AM You're probably right. Glad to know there is another serious Beatle fan out there. Who'd ever thought we'd be livin' in a two-Beatle world?! I was so awestruck by that, I have written and published that as a song (staff songwriter here in Nashville.) Figured you might appreciate that.
The Chicago Chronicle, Lydia & Mr. Gorpley on Perfect Strangers.
